Recently I had problems to install plugins from sisters site.

The problem accures with installers from various contribution teams like R2R, Mocha or V.R., but only on a few of them.

In these cases installer says something like "failed to create directory", or "can´t find requiered file".

Tried to switch system language settings from german to english, tried to install with admin rights. Still no luck.

Latest fails were both from Mocha -> "510k Seqund" and "Evabeat Melody Sauce". A few days ago I had a similar problem with "ReFX Nexus 4" from V.R.

I´d be happy to get some hints to resolve this.

I´m running Windows 11.

for nexus problem other people recently have mentioned; so i would try it. can't hurt. maybe disconnect from internet while installing for good measure.

add this to your host file :
0.0.0.0 web.refx.com
0.0.0.0 refx.com
0.0.0.0 outh.refx.com

Install Nexus again.

if it tells you "failed create a folder" error like that, I would manually create the folder to see if that works. It may show you an error with more useful information. If an error shows you permission problem with one folder, try a different folder. It can be either the Location, or your account privledges. That will usually help you know (or guess) which one it is.

 

looks like an authorization problem... you can easily check it via command prompt...

icacls folder

you can also try the whoami and net user username combo to check your privileges...

 

Tried that. Created every subfolder, that installer wasn´t able to create and it ends up with a fail to write a file.

As for Nexus: May it possible that I have to download the factory content to get it installed?

 

Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden... does that means something like "file not found" right? beg me pardon, but my german is pretty basic... if it's the case it can also be that your AV is blocking the file that the installer is pointing to during the setup so, not a writing problem but a reading one...

I excluded the installers in Windows Defender, but still no luck. Guess I have to pass these VSTs then.

I tested the lines in command prompt from your reply above, but I´m unsure what the replies tell me.

 

usually it means antivirus blocked the files (even if excluded)
aren't you using some modified Windows 11 version?

 

if it prints you back administrators or NT blablabla you are fine but that's not an auth problem... i've been fooled by the error per se, my bad... anyway... the av (especially Defender) can still blocking it... files could beign handled in Temp folders, that's why excluding the installers do nothing at all... you should try go barefoot while installing...

No, it´s a plain and legal version.

 

By barefoot you mean turn Defender off?

Haven´t found out yet, how to do that. Looks like it´s not that easy since it´s implemented in the OS?
