What is this crap about 7 notes? Most a little more complicated songs use more than 7 notes, just look at some scores, you will find lots of accidentals, even in pop music. Even if you use 7th chords you have more than 7 notes.

Sorry I shouldn't reply to this, but it's a really boring afternoon right now.

No, not enough. All of 12 notes. In addition, it must be a song. It means that the singer should sing all 12 notes in different parts of the song.
Because 12 is the maximum number of notes on the usual keyboards or fretboards. I want the full capacity of the 12-note chromatic scale is used.

Pop music is usually 7-note music, and out-of-scale notes are used only in limited ways and with the intention of adding variety to certain parts of the song.
But when 12-note music is involved, the composer's intellectual space expands and scales less than 12 notes lose their meaning.

the chromatic movement within jazz music is beautiful but to a lot of people it's to complex ....it's not really complex at all its just 7th chords and dominant chords and secondary dominants and diminished 7th chords going all over the place sometimes and chromatic movements and sometimes and diatonic movements to give it some dynamic.....but the mainstream is more focus on memorable melodies and chords thats why most of the music you hear is very diatonic and only go out of the scale whenever they introducing some passing chords to make it not sound so simple to give the progression a little bit of journey and story........chromatic music wouldn't last that long because of people having a short attention span in this new generation

yeah sometimes they use less notes in Pop music which is the pentatonic scale which only have 5 notes....the crazy thing about the pentatonic scale if u add a extra note like adding a flat 5th to the minor pentatonic scale u get the blues scale if u learn how to play it u can sound very advance its ways to do it but it takes some mastering to solo over chords using it

    PS:
This isn't a song but found it interesting.

Mysterium is an unfinished musical work by composer Alexander Scriabin. He started working on the composition in 1903, but left it incomplete when he died in 1915.

modern "music" is much more beat driven, the melodies are after thoughts or samples of afterthoughts.
Jazz has a tension as well as much more emotive style and energies, key changes, syncopation and so many
things working together and sometimes pulling apart, held by a fantastic drumming.

I was lucky to listen to nearly as much jazz music as I did rock music and though I loved both, the jazz has weathered
the erosive nature of time much better than the rock music did.

Do you understand how to use all 12 notes on any one particular chord now ?
Each of the 12 notes means something specific on a chord and it moves in an exact way.
There is no question mark around this topic.
( it isn't a mystery, it been solved hundreds of years now )
You never sat down and just listen to say Mozart or beethoven or any of 100 well regarded composers?

If you haven't began to understand this topic yet, that is your best bet find those composers and songs you like and pull up the music , memorize the songs, then look at how they use all 12 notes within a chord .
Then after that as you move forward to the last 150 years you will see every composer uses all 12 notes over a chord .
What is this nonsense of people use 7 note scale as notes over a chord ? Haha .
That isn't what a scale is for lol .
    Music isn't scales.
    Is language letters ? Lol
    The alphabet isn't this comment!

You are going to have to learn some basics about how harmony, rhythm and melody work .
You don't just say " oh I have a chord and going to create a melody , I know I will take some scale and play it !"
That would be like going to speak in a conversation but you instead recite your abc's forward and backwards lol .
You have to start learning those things in between now !
Pull up your big boy pants and get to work
    :)
