Hi, I'm looking for advice on Shimmer Rev FX.
What is for you the best Shimmer plugin for Mac (AU) besides Valhalla?

Thanks for help & ideas... :thanks:

Thank you for your answer, I will try Bleass too tomorrow.
Strange that 'Shimmer' is a type of FX that is very underestimated by the bigger and famous software houses.
I find it very interesting even if its use is limited but if used well it shines like a diamond.

    Also look at Eventide's Shimmerverb.

Oddly, my favorite shimmer might be the one in Neural's Cory Wong virtual amp rig.

TAL Reverb 4 by far is my favorite shimmer reverb after trying most options available. It has lush modulation & diffusion network with little delay between the non-pitch shifted & pitch shifted signal, unlike most shimmer reverbs which have issues with this.

Most shimmer reverbs sound "ok" with their only defining quality/use being that they have a pitch shifter in their feedback loop. TAL Reverb 4 sounds great even without the shimmer, although I highly recommend changing the default preset to have more dampening, a 90hz highpass, & a lowpass at 8khz. It sounds very brittle by default.

Another thing to note is that the "Diffuse" slider is just a dry/wet mix between the diffused & the non-diffused signal, so there's significant comb filtering when mixing. Keep at either 0 or 100 (on/off)

I would have liked to trial them but you need registration, an iLok account and both cost a little too much to trial: Shimmerverb almost €100 / Cory Wong €119.

Neural DSP plugins go on sale quite often for 50% off. Look for a sale.

Eventide do pretty deep discounts, I'm sure I didn't pay 100 euros for mine.

The shimmer reverbs I use most are: Sinevibes Luminance, BLEASS Shimmer & Linda Audio Stargazer (Freeware). I have many others but they don't get used as much as those three.
