Hello,

I am looking at the Emulation II from UVI and was wondering. What software do I need to get it to run? As in from UVI...does it need the Workstation?

But yeah, I could be totally wrong but think it needs a host plugin Falcon or whatever, rather than straight up single VST plugin inside a DAW?

 

The Emulation II only needs the (FREE) UVI workstation to run on Mac, if you buy the Emulation II.

 

With workstation being free is it limited in someway?

 

It should load all the instruments included in Emulation II, plus you have a bunch of included effects.

This is like comparing Kontakt Player with Kontakt x 10. Very limited, but it will play the samples and be usable. Falcon2 is not just a sampler.

No, library on sister site only work with r2r (falcon 2 to be specific, r2r not make uvi workstation maybe because all uvi workstation features already include in falcon so you don't need it if you have falcon).

 

Wasnt there a release earlier in the year or last, not sure this was included or not though

There is no release of Falcon2 for Mac from r2r. It is iLok2, for starters. Emulation II is it's own separate soundbank, about 3gb in size. You could just use Workstation. I don't have this soundbank, but when I first saw this one I did not really understand the purpose of a sampler emulation of a sampler, sampling what?

 

So short answer is no. Library on sister site cannot work with legit UVI workstation.

Well that's silly, considering there is no patched version

 

You have this backwards I think. The free Workstation (or legit Falcon2) cannot use R2R releases because they have been modified to work with patched/non-ilok'd versions of Falcon2. There is no point in screwing around with Workstation if you have Falcon2 already.

 

UVI library release on sister site is modified to use with r2r's falcon 2 (win only). You can find it elsewhere like above comment said.
Around 100 UVI libraries (more than 5-600 GB) release at that time with release of r2r's falcon 2.
