Logic Pro 10.7.9 Issues

Discussion in 'Logic' started by Vincent Price, Oct 9, 2023.

  1. Hello

I am wondering if anyone else has had the following issues with Logic 10.7.9?

When I go to load a instrument up, such as Arturia etc it just hangs...then eventually after a few minutes loads it up, if at all...

Anyone else had this with that version of logic?

I had trial installed and it did that with some plugins, not minutes, but it wasn't instant, so I trashed it immediately, Bitwig opened same plugins instantly. M1 Air Sonoma

It's just DRM, AU handshake for latency compensation and buffering of graphics and UI sizes.

Some developers do it better than others.

It's not a Logic problem per say but it can be an annoyance. Once the plugin is loaded and in sync with the audio engine it doesn't have any negative effect.

A newer more streamlined and object conditional version of AU is overdue and if and when it comes the toolkit will hopefully optimize these processes, force devs to things properly or lazy load them more efficiently.

Don't forget it is not really a "Logic problem" if it's only Arturia loading 2gb of bitmap images from a slow drive into memory causing it. What other plugins do the same thing?

Arturia is not optimised in that sense, make sure to load them off a fast drive

It could also be the 14 million Arturia Presets from VR getting scanned.

Latest versions of Logic are running plugins in different processes than the main app itself. So it is possible to run Logic as native arm and run native and Intel plugins via Rosetta at the same time. I felt that opening plugins is a bit slower than before.

I have the same problem, it is very annoying, why is it doing so when the plugin is native and the daw is running native?

Just tested on M1 MacBook Air 2020, Ventura 13.6.1, opening an Arturia synth in Logic 10.7.9, for example Jupiter 8, takes about 4 seconds for the first instance, and 1-2 seconds for more instances.

And Arturia's are some of the worst coded plugins ever with nearly one million single graphics files for the whole bundle.

    Analog Lab 5 on 2010 Pro, 10 seconds. Acid V, 5 seconds. Alchemy, 3 seconds, Serum, 2 seconds. Falcon3, under a second. Omnisphere 2.8, 2 seconds. Pigments 4, 10 seconds.

How are you running Logic 10.7.9 which requires at least Monterey 12.3 on a 2010 Mac Pro? OpenCore Legacy Patcher? How well does it work? I still got an old MBP 2013 which is stuck at Big Sur and it would be great to run latest Logic version.

    Sorry for being off topic...

I'm not. I just added numbers for comparison purpose in 10.4. Arturia plugins take at minimum, 2x as long as any other comparable synths. It is not a new situation or isolated to a specific version of Logic.

Drop you plugins directly from the Components folder onto the " Codesigner.app " and do a deep.

Ok, thanks! I'm also working with clients still on Logic 10.4.8 and High Sierra 10.13.6. And 10.13.6 is still supported by latest Xcode 15, so there seems to be a legacy user base Apple still cares about somehow.

But many things changed since then, especially on Apple Silicon, which may slow down loading times. Older versions of (Intel) Logic did run all plugins in the main Logic process, but recent versions run all plugins in two external processes, one for native AUs and one for Intel AUs via Rosetta 2.

After all, I'm very happy with the overall performance of Logic 10.7.9 on M1. If there are loading times of many seconds or even several minutes, there's obviously something going wrong. Maybe authentication issues...

Has anyone found a fix? LPX 10.7.9 (on intel) crashes anytime I try to load any Arturia plugins.

Never experienced that with any of my plugins in Logic. Latest Arturia with 10.7.9 and no such issues. I am on intel and it is completely flawless. I would say there is more waiting with other DAWs if anything. What version of Arturia are you running?

Unpopular opinion: Logic 10.7.8 is the best version of Logic ever and I'll probably never update it again

I am running 10.7.8 on M1 Monterey, and all my Arturia stuff works flawlessly. Take it with a grain of salt, but I would recommend downgrading to 10.7.8, it (might?) resolve your issue. Shouldn't be too hard to do (or reverse if desired), regardless if you have legit Logic or cracked Logic
