sounds thin, seriously not worth it.
i still wish behringer made a true remake of the JP and not something like that.

Ah, the gold standard of ambiguous yet serious complaints people have with stuff made after 19XX, right up there with "sounds too digital" in the realm of common cons that people say but no one really knows what it means (or even agrees).

Well, if this Behringer synth is only half as "fat" as the original JP-8000, 45 sterling is still a great deal at less than 1/10th the price of an original today (and with parts that won't need replacing so soon). People need to learn that the old, original stuff is dying out and that their nostalgia bias for them simply cannot be practical anymore. It's time to let them go as fate as dictated and make do with what today can bring.

That's not going to happen. Nothing is "dictated" by emulation plugin devs who would like us all to abandon our hardware in exchange for their files; so they can turn around and buy them up cheaper on Reverb or eBay.

the point is, why bother with that?
sure its 50€ here, but its sounds so thin like softsynths in 2003.
i bet if you get 10 of them, you will actual have a supersawish sound, but then you could also have bought a virus b or a, which has much better sound.

not worth buying, but i guess dumb folks will buy it.

a digital synth without a mod matrix might not even be worth $50

    Just a remark,
For those who may think that $1700 graphics card costs nvidia 1300 or $1400 to manufacture/ package/etc,
For those who may think that an iphone sold at $1200 will cost apple at least $1000 to build,
For those who may think that an electronic device, like a $2500 hardware synth, costs at least $2'000/2'200 to manufacture,

You have no idea how low prices are, in china...

This $49 jp4000, that most Europeans and Americans will call ultra cheap
It probably costs less than 10..or even less than 8 or 7 bucks, from china to the European shelves:
A stupid circuit board, with a few components, a tiny screen, a few $0.01 knobs... a $0.01 jacks... a $2 'box', a couple of minutes to assemble...

The factory will make 7 or 8 bucks... the transport will cost a couple of bucks....thomann will make 15 bucks... and behringer will probably make 20-22 bucks !
Yes, it's that cheap, in Asia/ china.

But i think what hurts the most, is paying 30 or 40 bucks for some dumb cable, when that cable doesn't even cost 1€ / $1

I have no interest in buying this thing (I'll take it as a gift) but I think it's a lot machine for less than the price of a lot of soft synths. Personally I think "Thin" is a good description for the JP-8000. Def a regret buy. I ended up giving it away to my brother. He loved that thing. He was so into that 90s trance sound, probably still is.

That said, there's something, at least on certain sounds, that I like more about this little thing than the JP demos I'm listening to right now but I'm not able to do a direct comparison, sound for sound, obviously.

Forget the junk and the toys.
Release the Proton, the Oberheim module and the VCS3 clone and I'll buy all three.
    Right now:rofl:
I'm 67 and hope to buy these before I'm 70.
    Or worse, dead :(

As they most likely won't be coming down the pike anytime soon, this perfectly defines the phrase...Klusterfucked:rofl:

thing is not that it sounds thin. thing is that they advertise it as a jp8000 kinda remake and people "buy" it. just call it a synth toy for 50 bucks and take it or leave it.

I can only hope for some remakes here. My Bad Monkey is starting to show it's age and I always wanted a XP-300 Space Station, tried it once, was too expensive for me back then, and now the used prices are absolutely nuts.

Also I loaned my DOD Echo FX to a friend a couple of years back, and it would be cruel to ask for it back now, he absolutely loves it. So ummh, yeah, potential here.

its interesting, but I think a low end Arturia minilab mkii or mkiii and the Arturia keyboard, gives you a lot more sounds and is easier to interface into your daw. Some very nice preset in the collections and if you visit the sister site for the more robust version, you can edit those presets to your hearts content.

this is a catchy tune, i've never heard before, some young octopus is playing on the minilab mkiii
if its not obvious, this is only a midi controller, has to be hooked to your computer to make the sounds heard
in this vid - just that the instrument emulations are so good now.

I'm sure you have if you are truly a human and born on this planet in a western country and over the age of consent. If not, then all bets are off.
