I used to enjoy playing Synthplant many years ago when it was available for extended audition but not enough to buy it. This sounds like a major upgrade with the sampling and sync abilities and am looking forward to trying out this new iteration.

unexpected announcement

 

Me too. I spent hours playing about with the 1st version. I think the one flaw (MY flaw rather than the synth) was that I couldn't control it well enough I would start looking for a bass sound and end up with a lead or pad.. it sounded great but I use to fly off at tangents with it.

 

I'm guessing 149 bucks.

What will it cost?
The Synplant 2 price will be higher than Synplant 1, but the final price has not been decided yet. If you own Synplant 1, you only need to pay the price difference to upgrade.

Oh my goodness, I was watching this video about Synthplant 2 and was very much blown away by what is called Genopatching which will synthesize any sample fed it. It opens up lots of ideas for me and now I must buy it. Finally I can be in the cool kid clique.

Maybe it might be better as a track idea starter to work around. This aspect does not seem to have changed. Sounds great, if you are needing random or experimental parts.

I'm having so much fun with the trial, it's unbelievable how close it can get you to a sound source.

in the end, that became my best use for it. It is such a fun way of wasting a few hours!

 

I own a couple of their plugins including this one from way back. I have never received any news about updates so its big news for me too. Thanks for the post!

 

this is probably one of the few plugins i'll end up buying, i had a lot of fun with the first; then i watched the video a few months ago (about genopatching). going to give it a try.
you can feel it's a work of art, soul and passion, and not just "buy this plugin to give your sounds warmth and wow amazing wavetables and look at this 80s inspired GUI that takes up 200% of your screen!"

 

how is the resynthesis done? does it use a wavetable and alter it or is it some kind of algorithmic formula?
