I am a MacBook Pro Catalina 10.15 (mid 2012) user. It's simple, but it helps me to edit audio and produce music. You would excuse my ignorance, but is it possible to use Thunderbolt to convert and improve my output audio signal to an interface where I can settle TRS monitors channels or RCA outputs? That is to say, the only option I now have to playback the audio output is the headphone miniplug to an RCA stereo mini component, which is colorized and not concise.

    Your issues would be:
    • Driver availability
    • True backwards for Thunderbolt Protocol
    • Cost of full feature Thunderbolt cables (at least one & a spare)
You would be better served by using a modern USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 audio interface. Budget will dictate features available.

If all you need is audio out, any low noise USB interface or DAC will do the job. Roughly $200 U.S. price range.
