people who show up late to the party and don't understand the many year wait involved in many of the first releases of the software they're taking for granted

Ever read a EULA? It was/is NEVER "your's". It was/is only ever theirs that they LEND to you out of the "kindness" of their hearts ... and a substantial fee... And now with the "subscription model" it takes that concept even further. YOU now become the dev gift that keeps on giving all year long.

Exactly, it is for this reason that software must be chosen not only for its performance, or for its fancy look, but also for the consistency of the dev, the commercial agreements it offers and the relationship it has with customers regarding aftermarket services

Thanks to all the people that put effort into the sister site.
You helped me immensely with my production quality and I really appreciate all the work that goes in.
There will be always people that complain so just go on and keep in mind that you help out a ton of people with your uploads:like:

    p.s.
Also please upload more fart sound sample libraries to get me to that CLA level of mixing.

R2R has put out 70 releases on the other place since September 1. It is only the 13th. Pretty good rate I'd say.
    IMHO

You asked for a practical example, I gave you one (many). iLok is well-known for making plugins slow to load, due to the decryption procedure. If you want to know why, you can read the docs on how it works. I'm not going to explain it here.

No one said *every* krack is the same. Many protections are simple to bypass, or aren't CPU intensive, or have a full keygen and so behave identically to the retail version (as they *are* the retail version). So there will be no difference for those. It really depends on the protection method, and the method to get around the protection. There is not one behaviour for everything. This is not a rumour, this is a fact.

The ones you mention don't have particularly invasive protections - you're not going to benefit by replacing your retails with Ks for those specifically, no.

Ok perfect thanks. Consider that my setup is iLoK free (I'm allergic to that protection), will never buy anything with that junk in it.
It would be very interesting to see an owner of ilok software do a legit vs k'd comparison test to check how much the performance is affected

I am always skeptical of the comments about iLok too. I do certainly believe r2r's comments about them running nicer using their versions. They have removed and patched code, and not added things to make them slower. But it is also another claim from users to rationalize not paying for them. Other good ones are not working offline, needing to reconnect 1x per month to reactivate, too short a demo period, annoying dongles, and on and on it goes. But that is because I think of them as files, easily replaced by something else; too expensive to be considered a fair price, and people do not have the money or are even just learning. None of that bothers me in the least, but some people could at least get their story straight. The technical reasons are not that great. I don't know of anyone who uses any legit iLok app or plugin on a modern/current computer who mention anything about the performance in 2023. Years ago, when we had slow, resources poor machines? sure. Aside from the dongles, because they are truly a pain. Sometimes I will have 10 or even 20 instances of Falcon 2 in a project and get 0 lag, on a 13 year old Mac. If the iLok cpu consumption is that much, it would be unbearable.

Maybe my opinion is wrong; but if it is it would be easy to disprove. All someone would have to do is show the difference in the performance of a k'd version and then the legit one they purchased. But that never happens, and you can guess why for yourself.

Maybe because the OP made much similar threads or posts like this in the past... Example: https://audiosex.pro/threads/why-provide-if-teams-dont-crack.71705/

It just gets on your nerves, and I think the more beggar post you make the less R2R or whatever group wants to share something new. I think even R2R themselves stated once in the Soothe NFO that they only released it, because all the beggars got on their nerves, too xD

Which makes even less sense - he's buying, so he's not a beggar, and if he's buying, he's choosing.

The phrase “beggar can't be chooser” is not 100% appropriate: by saying that we should consider the warez product as a gift, which is actually not the case. As many probably know, warez generate income: every time we click on a rapidgator link we are paying a small sum of money (called "reward") to our teams, money which, in a large scale, could become significant. Yes, in a certain way we can consider ourselves “parallel market consumers”. Now, I'm sure that these earnings cannot repay the enormous work they do every day by cracking software, but it is still a profit. The times of anarchist piracy belong to the 90s, today teams are a business, as is the sister site.

I've had about the same experience as you. I would say a good majority of the plugins I use on a regular basis are iLok (Softube, SSL, Soundtoys, PSP, UA, etc) nothing slow about those loading. When I add Softubes American channel strip to a track it opens instantly, so do all my Soundtoys plugs, SSL's bus comp, etc. Go load up some Arturia synths if you want to see legitimate lag.. iLok in the 10 or so years I've used it has been about the easiest copy protection in the world. Was all machine-based until a few months ago, I finally bought the dongle so I could just move from my old Intel Mac to the new M2 Pro easier and its still pretty much invisible.

Yes but do you think he would have bought it if it was available on the sister site? Which takes us back to my first statement, if it's not available, either settle for an alternative that's available or buy it.:dunno:
