I posted a thead about my music / bandcamp here and regretted it deeply after puffing a bit,
apparently i cannot just nuke a post like the old days. So I am deleting the content and providing some information so that the powers that be know that I am human and also enjoy being on the forum

In my early 20's I had a friend that was doing that sort of sound.

He was also going a lot more bonkers but basically, that was what you just posted here.

I remember him calling it noise.

He was in touch with a few labels to release his music and at my biggest surprise, those labels were releasing many albums every month.

I remember him having one of his project released on tape.

Last time I saw a live show of ''Noise'', the performance went out of control (and so was the artist) and I had to leave before the end of the show so much it was intolerable.

The artist came to see me 10 minutes later outside and told me '' thank you, I was worried no one would ever leave so I couldn't stop my show''.

    :wtf:

You can look into ambient, experimental, Musique concrète, Minimalistic, abstract, avant-garde to see if it fits your music.

It has various elements of these, but I can't think of a catch-all "genre" other than just Electronic for this track. I could definitely see it in a video game, like Fallout or something.

I feel like my music avoids the noise classification simply on aaccoutn of the amount of midi data contained within

I'm sorry I couldn't be of much help. I don't know much about that genre of sound. I'm into urban and pop music so pretty much the total opposite if there was one.

Anyhow, I thought your music sounded good. Like a live extract from a movie. I would not go looking for it but I did appreciate hearing something different. Plus it was well designed. (but I don't know what I'm talking about)

Classifing your music as genre should help listeners to find your music & discover similar.

He's actually making a good point. The idea of making music for the sake of expressing something that cannot be categorized and is self contained. That's a valid artistic path imo. Sadly, it would be hard to do nowadays. We love to put everything and everyone in a box. Just like I did (and he corrected me).

    What happened here?
It looks like OP deleted their music after an hour ... simply because people started arguing about actually just discussing genres?
Now that's what I call fuckin' YIKES

I didn't read Cclcng's post that way and it felt that he was venting on any audience that he might have, but you certainly have a point with your's. Personally, lots of my music can't really be categorized and I don't even try. Certain pieces are just what they are and I'm not losing sleep over this matter and don't care a whit if someone might call one Electro Folk Polka, LOL.

Partially because of the tired genre / anti-genre / crap which i am way too outspoken on.. and more because i got stoned and became introspective and felt embarrassed because making the first post in a community forum about "our music" without having contributed anytyhing prior is arguably pretty self-centered and entitled..

I'm assuming that "incite" is a typo. If not.. it sounds like whoever wrote that is on a very dark path.

Wow. If Ken Ishii, Squarepusher and Plaid had a baby, on drugs..... I mean that as a compliment. Impressive.
