I'm definitely getting carpel tunnel syndrome in my right wrist. I have a logitech ergonomic mouse but its not doing me any good at this point. My hands are HUGE and I think part of it has to do with trying to grip these little tiny mice. I tried switching hands but its so cumbersome I cant even think straight using my left hand. I saw one by Evoluent that looks big(er) than the one I have now but I need something the size of a bowling ball anyone know of a company that has anything bigger or any suggestions?

Try a trackball or pen instead?

you need more than one device,
    i use a wacom tablet
a 3d mouse to help and a normal mouse (one that fits)
right now i´m looking for a wacom screen tablet
and additionally in the studio is a
    Steinberg c121
    Softube console1
    and testing a MPMidi
+ the wacom is also touch enabled that means i also use just my hand
like a notebook/mac trackpad just with nice gestures

carpool:no:-tunnel:yes: is an overuse of one motion/muscle group
    in an (sometimes) akward positions.
Like the palm of your hand should point
to the left(or right) not (just)down

so, not just one device and motion is key!

Whatever you doing, STOP! Let your hands rest and recover or you will have permanent damage. A lot of the big studios I worked at had trackball mice like this one.

Never liked them so I just made sure the angle of my hands is almost always flat with the keyboard and mouse elevated.

your hands being flat is the problem; it's an unnatural forced position. That's how you develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It is 90 degrees from their normal position, if you put your hands to your sides. The more your mouse-side thumb comes upward is better. I use Logitech MX master mouse and they help and have other good aspects like Flow software to control 2 computers and a thumb side scroll wheel. If you are typing a lot, get a split kb. That will solve everything because you won't be able to type for 3 months while you get used to it. :) I have read that mechanical switch keyboards also help instead of mushy keys; but i think that is more related to the top of your hands.

Yeah I have vertical logitech and my wrist still goes flat. I need a bigger on that holds it in position better i think. Its not the typing its the constant clicking and turning things up and down

    Too easy. Carry on.

No joke, it's happening to me too. And I hate trackballs too- and I'm not convinced they're better.

I had pain like you (even going up into my shoulder). Bought a trackball. Pain and tension went away. I'm never going back to a "regular" mouse again.

A mouse is too small, get a rat! Seriously, some manufacturer should make something larger for large hands.

even with a trackball, if used in excess will lead to injury.

Even scrolling can become a problem, i switched to endless scrolling mice
no clicking, just smooth and precise gliding no force necessary.
even though normal scrolling is pretty effortless, the repetition
of always using the middle finger or whatever is(can be) the problem.

I wonder how long it will be before you can get a cursor to move around the screen merely by moving your eyes. There was eye recognition TV's being sold by Bang and Olufson about 10 years ago!

What DPI setting are you using? Nowadays, all mice come with some crazy settings like 3-5k DPI, but in reality the sweet spot is like 800-1200 DPI for a 1080p screen resolution. If you use a very high setting, you need to lock your wrist in place to do any fine movements, and this puts additional strain on your muscles. If you use a low DPI setting, however, you are using more of your arm, which is in my opinion more healthy in the long run.

I wish someone would invent a mouse helmet that acts on your thoughts. They did it in the Clint Eastwood movie 'Fire Fox' where the jets weapon system were all thought controlled.:rofl:

so the problem I have ran across is, that most of the so called vertical mouses are not really vertical at all. they make the rotation of the hand not meet 90degrees, rather sthg like 50-60 dunno.. but it feels off..

the only ones I tried, that did it right, were those, https://evoluent.com/
but the problem with those is that they have horrendous dpi!

so you if you know about a vertical mouse which is like those Evoluent in design but can reach around 4000dpi at least, I*d be very happy if you let me know!
