I'm comming from a 5700g, a friend wants to build an pc with it and I have it, so I tought that it's a good time for an upgrade

    I already have a x570 TUF, 32gb of 3800mhz RAM, and a 3070

I want it for 2 things: Music Production and CS:GO, but music mainly, which one should I get?

Either 5700X or 5800X to avoid any possible scheduling & latency issues with Windows & audio software.

Also make certain the mainboard BIOS is up-to-date.

I don't think 5700X would be big enough upgrade from 5700G, sure you get PCIe 4 support but not a dealbreaker,
5800X3D is noticeably better for games than 5800X, but it also makes it quite a bit more expensive than 5800X, basically costing as much as 5900X which would be better for bigger audio projects than 5800X3D

Hmmm, isnt 5900x too hot? also, if I'd go for something with that manny threads wouldnt be better to get an full upgrade to 7000? I don't mind the price difference from the 5800x to 5800x3D
5800x3D here is costing 2000 BRL
    5700x 1200 BRL
    5800 1500 BRL

heat is produced by power delivery, so in light workloads, there won't be practically any temperature difference between 5800X and 5900X,
7000 series have rather expensive motherboards to begin with...

Windows has possible issues with thread management for AMD X3D & Intel E Cores. Mainboard, BIOS & RAM that are not well matched & configured is only part of the issue. The rest is on Microsoft.

Using an X3D cpu for DAW/VSTs may work for you or, just cause more problems than you want to deal with. Each Windows update could break/undo your tweaked Windows configuration adding another level of frustration.

For just gaming, X3D. For hybrid workflow, non-X3D.

if you are as concerned as I am about temperature, buy the one you want and learn how to edit this preset shown in the image. This way the processor is running at 3.25Ghz max(in my case, go to youtube for yours), and does not heat up at all unless I play a game(in that case its around 69° approx), I have no fps drop or anything, for example with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a RX 580 nitro + 4gb, I have 90 fps approx in a game called RUST. very demanded game.
the most important part to configure is the one that says "Processor power management"(Administracion de energia del procesador) and the one that says "Maximum processor state"(Estado maximo del procesador).

I have a 240mm water cooler so I dont think I'd need to worry about temperature, my 5700g rarely gets above 65 degrees

x3d is heat limited due to 3d stacking.
what's on the tin is what you get, no overclocking or higher boost.
so stay with x, and if super low latency isn't an issue you can go with 2 chiplets
but 1 is def faster, at least for now (OS scheduling)

Hmmm I just watched some reviews of both and 5900x seems to be really good, I never expected a 12cores to have a better performance in games than a 5800x, tought the higher clock of 5800x would beat the core numbers on 5900, but it doesnt seem to be the case
