For sound quality, Diva is up there near the very top; but for a million presets Zebra may remain the king. If you want a million bitmap files to go with your presets; then you install Arturia.

That's maybe because this and all the Controllers on his Site are Selfmade :winker:

It is incredible what he is doing, but it seems with the investment in building them all, he could likely buy the original hardware that the softsynths are emulating, for not much more. It's likely just as much the journey as it is the destination for him though. It is impeccable work, regardless.

Not even close on the hardware cost. It's a beautiful controller but has no sound generation on it's own. A digital synth with that many controls would be very, very expensive; and an analog would probably be 10x more. That is even a wild lowball number. He'd probably spend $1000+ just on plastic knobs and another $200 just painting the little white marker lines on them.

Diva is great, but the preset browser needs an overhaul. How hard would it be to allow the silly Favourites 1-8 to be renamed to something actually useful?

It could also really benefit from a larger variety of FX.
Fingers crossed for Diva 2.0 after Zebra 3 comes out in 2048!

i have only the stock presets. my whole setup I’m is based on “less is more” nowadays. I strip every single package of samples etc to exactly the specific ones I like and delete the rest.

But, Would love to hear if they’re like super “essential” packs out there. In that case I could simply pick my favorites and save a handful as regular user presets.

    shouldn’t be a problem right?

Diva is an excellent plugin but also a CPU hog. It supports multi-core support, but some people had mixed reviews about this feature (e.g performance issues when multiple instances use the multicore option).

When you use Reaper which starts even before you click on its shortcut (lol) every plugin becomes standalone plugin.

There are also various VST mini-hosts you could use to turn plugins into standalone plugins. VSTHost by Hermann Seib for instance.

When it was released, Diva was way ahead of the other soft synths due to the quality of its Analog emulation.

It's still sounding very good by today's standard, the only difference being that Diva is no longer the only game in town: there are many other high quality emulations of analog hardware synth.

Anyway, still a good option I guess.

  15. I have downloaded Diva from another well known website and it is u-he Diva 1.4.5 (12092) for Windows & Mac. It doesn't have any instructions of how to install it, as in if there is anything I need to do in terms of code signing etc

I have noticed that all the downloads for Diva on the sister site, are version 1.2.1, I am wondering if this was on the sister site but got taken down...

With all that effort, it's just begging for a single board computer installed to generate the sound, rather than just a pure controller.

/Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/Diva is the default Mac location. I would not bother to put them on your external drive. It uses H2P file extension, and if you look you will see how small they are. A typical users preset folder is less than 20 meg. They are nothing like Serum, etc. where they need wavetable files or other samples.
