So guys, I found a 2TB SSD at a reasonable price (otherwise, with brands like Crucial or Corsaire, it would have cost 50% more than 1 4TB SSD).

    ADATA ALEG-800-2000GCS SSD M.2 2000 GB PCI Express 4.0 3D NAND NVMe €83.94

    Can I trust this brand?

Is the speed improvement really big if using 2 SSD instead of one?

From the data about the drive it's a fairly good product. 1.200 TWB and 6.000 MB/s is really good for a 2TB drive.
The user rating is consitently good. And with 83€ there is not much of a risk.

But, you know theres always a but ...

With 1.200 TBW and use as Kontakt drive you will be retired when the end-of-life of the card is reached.

Have an ASX8000NP-512GM-C from ADATA, which now has very low write rates. This I noticed after I had seen by chance in Crstaldiskinfo the poor condition. ADATA gives 5 years warranty. Does anyone have experience with warranty cases and / or general support requests about ADATA? Unfortunately, I could not contact either via the German website (error after filling out the form, "Try later") or via the warranty page (there was also a transmission error here).

21.02.2023 Current status. Photos sent by mail on 10.02.23, so far no reaction more. Regarding Tel.: Cologne number is dead (do not think it is because of Carnival), Munich rings through and is eventually capped.

Package is now going to Taiwan tomorrow for 10,99€ after I finally got an answer. Am very excited :d

Was beyond repair, a replacement came for it

Where I live, the warranty MUST be assumed by the seller, that's also why I prefer to by in stores here.

So it seems a good option.

Now in my computer case, I see only one more slot for another SSD drive,I'll ask in the store how to install them. It's the same store where I bought the parts, then I pay them to mount the computer.

I wopuld do it. The risk is minimal.

But do yourself a favor and include the drive into your backup scheme. I'd suggest weekly, the the risk than is almost zero.
    Have fun

Yes, also, thanks to AZ, all kontakt libraries can be re-downloaded if needed.

I only backup my own work, presets, projects etc... As the rest can be found if needed.

Apologies, I don't think I phrased my question correctly, I meant a large amount of plugins as well as tracks.

One thing to remember is that if a 4TB SSD goes down and it isn't all backed up then you lose 4TBs of data in one pop. So whatever you get you need to make sure that your most important data is backed up.

I use two Samsung Evo 980 Pro 1TB SSDs in my laptop. My laptop is on from the moment I wake up until the minute I go to bed 364 days a year.
My drives have been rewritten on well above what could be considered average usage.

The key is to do your research and buy what you need rather than what you want.

Yes! You can trust this brand. I have been using the ADATA XPG Gammix 11 Pro 1TB for the past three years. Put one in my granddaughter's laptop over a year ago. No issues and, advertised speeds * performance are there.

Note that you only increase speed using two or more disks used together while in RAID mode. This type of operation has drawbacks as well so, research thoroughly before going down that road.

Some type of external drive(s) are recommended for backup & storage of downloads & content/projects. Planning to move 1TB & 2TB HDDs to external USB3 enclosures for storage backup leaving only SSDs in main system.

@Olymoon You should definitely think twice before buying these cheap garbage drives. There are reasons why they are cheap. I can understand that not everyone (including me) can't buy for example bunch of Samsung 990 Pro's. Buy quality. Avoid those QLC drives. If possible maybe you could wait and save the money for like Western Digital Black 850x, Samsung 980 Pro, 970 EVO Plus, Kingston Renagade or KC3000. They are a bit more expensive but you won't regret it.

I have a ADATA in a different PC they are ok. I understand your circumstances. I still prefer The MX-500 if you can get one in your area.

Please, send me a PM, I'll give you all the info I can, and it will be a pleasure to help you if I can. But here this is off topic.

    Thank you for the info.
Theoretically, you are right, but where I live, as I said before, custom fee, transport and warranty, makes buying any valuable asset not worth it. So I have to look at what there is here, and chose into it

RAID mode is necessary to have improved performance with 2 ssd instead of one?

If you mean fats read/write performance, yes.

Using two or more HDDs or SSDs of the same size (& preferably manufacturer brand), you will gain a theoretical doubling of throughput.

    Standard RAID levels

I should mention that the averegae user is better off with multiple 2TB or 4TB NVME PCIe 3.0/PCIe 4.0 SSDs operating as individual/non-RAID units. More than enough performance from well made SSDs.

Heavy A/V workloads & video editing is where RAID offers benefits for consistent read/writes.

Thank you @quadcore64 I will be ok with one drive I think, it's only to read info for kontakt and some other vst.

Briefly, two of my internal SSDs that I use for heavy stuff, like Kontakt libraries, including *heavy libraries with *tons of Round Robin and Velocity layers, are 1TB Samsung 870 EVO SATA 2.5 and they're holding up well, and performing without a hitch. A bonus is that you can often find them on sale for quite a bit cheaper than they usually run; I grabbed them for right around $60 apiece.

These are very similar specs to a PC I'm having built from PC Specialist. CPU, GFX are the same, but

    Mobo: ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (DDR5, USB 3.2, 6Gb/s)

    RAM: 96GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 5200MHz (2 x 48GB)

Can someone chime in on my choice of HDs:

    1st M.2 SSD Drive either
    2TB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 6500MB/sW)
    or
    2TB SAMSUNG 990 PRO M.2 2TB (Up to 7450MB/sR Up to 6900MB/sW)

(difference in price between the two is £24)

    2nd M.2 SSD Drive
    4TB CORSAIR MP600 PRO NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 7000 MB/R, 6850 MB/W)

    Thank you for your concern.
I haven't bought it yet as I have too much to do with music these days.
Several new contracts and a new singer in my hand ( means transpose all scores etc...)
Anyway, weather was so hot here these days that wouldn't copy tbs of data to a an HD.
Things may settle down a bit this week after Wednesday, so I'll go buy it.

    I'll keep you updated.

I only buy Samsung SSDs and have never had one fail.
Oldest one is a 1 TB that is 7 years old and is at 99%
Price wise the sweet spot is 2 TB
Right now Amazon has 2 TB 970 Evo Plus M2 for 80 US dollar.
I heard somewhere SSD prices are supposed to come down at the end of the year but doubt it.
