How about extracting the drums from the original song, use something like Melodyne to convert to midi, load the midi file into a notation editor (some DAWs can do this within the program) and print/export as PDF? That's what I would do.

 

Right, the same process I used in the example.

This is a smart idea: drums are not so difficult to extract and even factory MIDI stem separation for most daws would probably do.

 

Unless someone is reading the documents to play them.

 

Notation software has drum staves - Guitar Pro has too. Unless it's a metal drummer with a monster set it would be trivial to move each element to the right place, more so if a drummer is doing it but easy enough regardless.

 

This would be my first course of action too, it would probably take the same amount of time as my other suggestion so I guess it comes down to whether somebody is more adept with audio/midi or graphics editing.

 

Another thought - would an experienced and decent drummer need more than one bar each of notation for verses/choruses and maybe intros? They can always learn important fills later, or you could just notate a couple of bars of fills for them. Just give them a lead sheet.
