I sold my M-Audio keyboard with my DNA inside. And guy who bought it from me asked what is this white thing inside.
And I told him it is yoghurt. It is just yoghurt! :hahaha:

I have the slightest idea on where race played in what's said. My comment was the obvious condition the sp1200 is in. Paint knocked off in spots where his fingers are placed the most. Racial overtone or undertones was not intended. Dark humor I guess?

Hey, if I owned Jimi's strat I'd be stoked as hell but I still wouldn't put it under a blacklight.
As for the Dead... there was an urban legend that someone bought Owlsley's mix desk, touched it and tripped but the actual story seems to involve a Buchla synth:

Here you go bud, straight from the NCBI:

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7280997/

"The emerging coronavirus disease (COVID-19) swept across the world, affecting more than 200 countries and territories. Genomic analysis suggests that the COVID-19 virus originated in bats and transmitted to humans through unknown intermediate hosts in the Wuhan seafood market, China, in December of 2019."

Hope that clarifies "racism" for you.

I understand where you're coming from, and I wanna make it clear that I meant absolutely no harm.

I was perfectly aware of the "slave auction" undertone of my joke, but that wasn't the point of it. Drake himself is black (at least according to white supremacist american racialist hogwash that says if you have one drop of blah blah... you know how that BS goes), if it was someone like Justin Bieber I would've never made the joke.
But more important than that, I meant to poke fun at the absurdity of the comment to which my joke was a reply, saying that he bought this just like he bought Tupac's diamond ring, and "a fool and his money will soon part" (which, it could be argued, plays to the stereotype that poor -especially black- people who become rich spend like there's no tomorrow and go broke, but I don't want to imply that was the commenter's intention -plus, Drake doesn't come from poverty anyways).

Drake could buy every single iconic instrument, artifact or item ever owned by any artist and still have piles of cash that would dwarf mount Everest.

So I took the absurdity to the extreme and suggested that Drake could buy people, let alone their possessions, and still be filthy rich. It was an exaggeration to poke fun at the suggestion that spending a $100k here and $200k there would leave him poor.

I hoped to make it even clearer with my following comment about RZA being Asian that I was being facetious. It was my small nod to the famous Chapelle Show skit lol.

I can't comment on the other remarks as I don't know what the authors intended, but it could be argued that the NYPD comment pokes fun at that institution's racism, and the Wuhan comment is just a pun in relation to the dusty state of the EMU. But if you felt otherwise, hey, your feelings are just as legitimate.

I hope this clears it up a bit. To me the funny (and at the same time depressing) elements of this story are in the fetishization of objects in this crazy money culture we live in, not the racial side of it.

Buchla is one of those things that makes so much more sense if you've tripped before lol.

I concur about your auction feelings. It is a very "Sensitive" time in our country regarding anything related to racism unfortunately. So it is not a good time to poke fun using the comments that were expressed. But I got you. Thanks for the clarity.

The only thing that us clear to me is that you have serious issues. Realizing that I will now mute you. Since you find the humor in relating Covid, which many people have suffered and died from to the Wu-tang. Have a nice life.

This has to be one of the worst cosmetic examples of a EMU SP 1200 that I have ever seen. However, whoever ended up buying it did not buy "a SP 1200" but a piece of music history. As ridiculous as the price may seem to some of you, it is common for that type of historical/novelty item. For example, a pair of Technics 1200 that were used at Club Space in Miami were recently listed on Reverb for $200,000. Now, you can get them discounted at a price of $185,000. https://reverb.com/item/57251870-cl...with-coa-electronic-music-history-memorabilia

    Crazy fucking shit.png

Edit: BTW, it is in bad cosmetic condition because it was being used to make music instead of sitting on a desk or rack as a display item.

Well, with the exception of you, 7 people liked my comment... so I guess they must be racists too. :dunno:

The joke was a play on words not an attack, but I cant stop you from reading into things. You're gonna believe whatever your recreational outrage is wired to trigger on. Just like your historical significance bit.

You know what else is historically significant? Monica Lewinsky's dress. But I wouldn't buy that shit either because it's fucking gross. Sometimes two things can be true at once and it's fine to have conflicting emotions.

Even so, wouldn't you clean all that crud off before you sold it? If I was RZA, I'd be worried that somebody was going to scrape off my dna, clone a kid and hit me with a paternity suit.

Are you asking me? The answer is that I would NEVER let my gear get like that. With that said, there is a big market for gear in similar conditions. Indeed, you have companies like AudioScape releasing what they call "train wreck series" which offers unique front panel aging and vintage patina.

So who the fuck knows. Maybe there is a market for grime and dirt covered gear. To each its own.

Exactly why I made the comment about fingerprints because of the wear and tear on the top panel, NYPD was saying the unit looked destructed like a crime scene. Just saying......peace.

it won't get used anyway. but if it was a item you wanted to buy to use, that front plate is replaceable. a lot of the "perfect condition" units you ever see being sold used have been cosmetically refreshed. sometimes they even change the colors of the case. It looks like they used it as the boat anchor for that Staten Island ferry that pete davidson bought.
