I agree with you about the respawn logic, even if - as you admit yourself - you exaggerate it a lot. Time counter-based respawns would have been nicer than the distance-based.
As for the AI - in my opinion the enemy AI in FC2 is one of the best - especially by today's standards. They are not broken, but fucking smart ass. Nowadays stealth means to crawl up and down in a tuft of grass one meter in front of an enemy's nose in daylight without being detected. Strategic action is not necessary, because enemies always move on the same routes... Yawn... Or you can use a revolver with a scope attachment to shoot perfect head shots at a distance of 70 meters. Or it is enough not to get hit for 10 seconds and all wounds are healed. I don't know how it's fun when a game treats me like a damn baby on the highest difficulty level. I want a challenge... In FC2 you'd better choose a moonless, windy night for sneaking, so that the enemy doesn't spot your movements easily in the otherwise quiet landscape and inform his buddies, who will flank you 30 seconds later and send you to heaven with 2 shots. And don't get the idea that a tin hut would muffle the sound of your footsteps or serve as cover in case of a shooting. Sheet metal is not bulletproof.
Weapon clamping is debatable. I don't think you can compare well-maintained weapons to old, rusty, used weapons that are full of sand and dust and not specifically designed for that. For me, this gameplay mechanic is an additional tactical challenge that I enjoy. However, I get it if people are disgusted by it. It's not everyones cup of tea.

Although the single player had serious annoyances (instant bot respawning at checkpoints, and having to run the same routes over and over), the ambiance was great. For multiplayer, the third-party CTD maps took it to another level.

All good points. Particularly about the weapons failing. Of course if you are getting them off dead enemies maybe they are in poor condition, but bought from the store they ought not be bad, and besides that isn't the player taking care of them?
Still a great game though...

Exactly. If you take into account the context in which the game takes place, the weapons certainly didn't come fresh from h&k's factory by plane, but had already been used in several wars, stolen from military stocks, resold dozens of times, not cleaned properly and then ended up in the dust where the player finally picked them up. I, who has never fired a gun, would certainly not be surprised if the gun got jammed at some point. :hillbilly:

I'll take "you" as to mean whoever is playing the game, otherwise you're bolder than I'd be, speculating that I'll end up in the fluffy clouds with all the law-abiding folks. I'm not the right-next-to-the-furnace type, but it'll probably be warm where I'm at.

On to Remnant 2... pretty decent game, although the game progress isn't linear like the first one. Where your character starts is completely random (from what I understand), and as such, it can make it fairly difficult early on in some cases. I'm a bit odd in that I tend to like a linear progression, usually. But really, it's fun either way.

I recently played Watch Dogs, but it didn't quite meet my expectations. While it's not a bad game, the level of hype surrounding it was much higher than what the game delivered.

Many years ago around 2007 we took the old Unreal Tournament ( the GOTY from 99) and took pictures of inside our houses to get the wall textures, overall layout, closets, doors, backyards and front of the houses. We took several shots to get also the textures for the appliances and major items like the couches, bathrooms, bedrooms etc. We wanted the house too look as close to the original ( game looking style not real). We also added some video clips to the television set models making fun of each other, just utter hilarious nonsense hiding out in friends inground pool with a sniper rifle while he is on top of his roof lol.

Several friends were involved in this project and the result was hilarious action as we modelled 4 houses to be as close as possible. We modelled the size of the houses to be as close to human level to make the action faster in the game so not much camping could be done. We then took turns in the game levels changing house to house.

Gaming has gone boring these days, too much tech and not enough fun factor.

I recall UT GOTY well. The multiplayer low-gravity CTF was awesome.
Unfortunately things seemed to go crazy with rocket mods and such after a time.
