Our ancestors spent hundreds of thousands of years as hunters/gatherers, mostly gatherers, constantly on the move, searching for food. Walking.

Sitting on our big asses the whole day is the opposite of what our bodies are designed for. There are penalties for that abuse, affecting both our bodies and minds, and no workarounds.

I don't see your diet as a problem, but you can still make it much worse by switching to meat hamburgers.

I stopped eating meat in my mid-twenties, but also stopped eating in the evening, long before I found out that it's actually a thing, called intermittent fasting. Just like Lois Lane described above, you define a part of the day, 6-8 hours long, during which you can have 2 main meals, or several smaller ones. You don't eat anything outside that window, just drink.

That gives your body 16-18 hours every day, which is enough spare time, after processing all the food, to do the maintenance, revitalisation, self-healing... many wondrous things that chemical factory is capable of doing when given a break and not forced to be constantly busy processing food, especially meat, which takes much longer to digest and pollutes the body much more than plant-based food.

Edit/disclaimer: This is me speaking strictly to a person who has been a vegetarian for two years now. I have never ever told anyone what to eat. Everyone is responsible for the maintenance of their own vehicle.

That's a great question and something I want to seriously get into but I'm just too lazy. I'm also not creative these days and aimed at pragmatism for the sake of my wallet so I work with what I have.

On a diet only basis, I usually do some slow cooker recipe where I mix a few different type of meat, add a bit of broth and 3-4 different veggie. Or a batch of Butter chicken. Or a spaghetti sauce with ground beef and italian sausages and wine. When I'm in South America I usually eat like a king and buy some incredible pieces of meat and cook some more refined recipe that I share with my wife. The fish down there is also incredible as we buy it early in the morning at the dock.

I believe my issue right now is not moving enough. I mean, I'm a fat fawk for about 2 years now. I use to weight about 140 pounds at 5'11 and I'm now 208 so there's that. So I'm trying to motivate myself to go play basketball at 4am when I wake up but I love to drink alcohol a lot so I often skip when I had too much wine the day before.

My issue right now is not my diet, it's my alcohol intake and my lack of physical movement.

If I play basketball for an intensive 20 minutes for 3 morning straight, my mental and physical condition difference is huge.

How do you arrive at this statement? First of all, you would have to know what the meat substitute consists of. If it's stuffed with soy tofu and seitan, I can assure you that high quality ground beef is by far the healthier option. Patties made from kidney beans and chickpeas make a good substitute, but only if you have cooked them yourself beforehand and they did not come from a can. But again, it is not healthier than good beef. A mix of both would be optimal. Apart from that, the bun, the sauces and the type of cheese play a much bigger role in this context.

You misunderstand him. He mean McDonald and fast foods. Meat hamburgers are easy to get and they are everywhere.
And You agree that eating fast foods are very unhealthy and better to eat for example soya that hamburgers in McDonalds? Right?

Beef in McDonald is far away from good. One time I met doctor that said Hamburgers in McDonald are made from Dogs crushed and mixed together with dogs kennel.

Oops...totally forgot daily dried and fresh fruit. A handful of raisins...the dried side is two figs, two apricots and two dates, fresh is usually a banana, some grapes, strawberries, an apple, seasonal berries and now I'm gorging on the tiny plums growing on the tree in our back yard. Also, bromberries are ripening all over the place and I nibble on them while walking my dog along the river nearby.

This is the plum tree after I pruned it after about 8 years. It's exploding.

I mainly eat seeds, nuts, (whole only) grains, roots, fruits, vegetables and a lot of beans/legumes daily and on schedule. I treat my animal products like side dish, but I do have some at least once a day, usually something lean. I drink water all day/night and a cup almond milk daily.

Exercise is a must, and consistent of course because I sit a lot in front of the DAW.

On rare occasion, maybe once every year or two, I'll have a big cheesy bacon burger, or pizza, or a beef/steak burrito with lots of cheese.

I'm still very healthy and on no meds for the usual stuff many people have at my age so I guess it's working for me.

That's exactly what I meant, I'm glad you understood.

Music production easily becomes a passion, consuming all available time, pushing people towards quick and dirty solutions such as fast food. It's a recipe for disaster when combined with sedentary lifestyle.

There is something to be said for reducing widespread excessive meat intake. Our ancestors didn't eat meat every day, far from it, more like once a week, on average. Our biology, our digestive system, metabolism, is definitely not designed for three meat based meals a day. However, I wouldn't recommend substituting meat with anything. If a meat diet works for you, keep it.

If it doesn't, tofu and seitan are generally lesser evil, when consumed in moderation.

Better yet, avoid soy as well. Various other beans/legumes (green beans, chick peas, lentils, peanuts etc.) are an excellent source of proteins. Seeds and nuts (walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds etc.) in addition to proteins, contain a lot of good fats, vitamins, minerals etc.

So called student food, a mixture of seeds and raisins, makes sense in a studio setting too. Music production is a mental effort, the brain uses glucose as fuel (raisins), the seeds provide the rest, concentrated, without bloat. As always, moderation is the key.

I tried to come across as anything but angry. I haven't understood Sinus Well's comment as confrontational. It looks to me like a normal exchange of opinions. If it looks like a fight, it's just because of the limitations of written communication.

No, not at all. I was just asking a question because the statement was very general and not true in its core. I did a 3 year apprenticeship as a chef before studying audio technology and worked in restaurants, hotels and in food technology for a decade to save up for my tuition fees. My wife has an MSc in Ecotrophology and counsels people on nutrition every day. So I would say I know a little bit about food and how the body deals with it.
