    Hi guys,
My question is certainly completely stupid for you who use mac.
But I have no idea and I'm trying to help a friend who use mac.

So, is it necessary to have a firewall if you use warez on mac, To block certain programs to connect to their servers and invalid the crack?

For most cases you should be able to just modify the hosts-file, just like on Windows (it's "/etc/hosts" on a Mac).

But for convenience, Little Snitch is an easy to use and configure firewall. I'd recommend that.

Coming from a non-apple user - YES, if you are going to insist that a media production machine (be it apple or PC) be connected to the internet, a decent firewall would be an essential tool. Not only for keeping the softwarez in check, but also for keeping the OS mechanisms that work against you in check as well. Not really familiar with what is available for apple per se, but I would look for one that has the ability to point and shoot rule creations, and has a REAL-TIME network connections monitor and dashboard.

It's not as clear-cut as that. But basically on Linux and OSX there are no listening services by default so a default firewall makes little sense. It can be enabled of course on both. On Windows there are listening services, so a firewall blocking inbound traffic is necessary by default.

All systems allow outbound traffic unless specifically blocked. The aforementioned Little Snitch monitors network traffic and lets the user pick which ones to allow and which ones to block.

yes it is, in rather same way as it is on Windows when not relying on editing hosts file,
behavioral firewall like Little Snitch works best, or LULU which is free

It is not free. But there are releases which can be found, too. Little Snitch is not as light as LuLu, and it can also require more user interaction than LuLu. Little Snitch is more configurable.

Little Snitch is what I use by default, Customer.

Also, as I like to cook, I add a https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts
The browser adblock+uorigin do the additional Greasemonkey smooth sailing

It's mostly outbound traffic you should not underestimate when using d3m0z
