Mac M1 Pro - Computer restarted because of a problem

Discussion in 'Mac / Hackintosh' started by Vincent Price, Jul 14, 2023.

  1. Hello

Recently I have been getting a message saying my computer restarted because of a problem. It functions fine all day and then at the end of the day I shut it down thinking it has completely turned off only to find it turned on in the morning presenting me with this message.

    SOCD Report Detected: (Iboot panic)

What is this and why is it doing it?

    Thanks

it could be a million things, try to find the crash log in console. alternatively you could try ending all programs before you shutdown, it could be some software that's causing the crash, though this is only a small chance.

also try restarting in safe mode and see if it restarts then as well

  5. That is literally all it says when I click on details

you should really try booting up in safe mode and then shutting down to see if it still happens, cause if it does it could be a hardware problem.

edit: just to be sure: Safe mode is a boot mode that loads the OS with a minimal amount of software so will make clear if it's a soft or hardware problem.

read this from the apple support forum (click on all replies, it hides a whole bunch of them when the page first opens) , you're not the only one having this problem.

The problem is related to sleep. Disable sleep. Longterm fix is upgrading to Ventura !
