I had Kontakt 5.2.1 and was trying to reinstall it hoping to get the lumina library to work as a vsti and had an error message saying uninstall unsuccessful and when trying to do a reinstall it says can't uninstall previous version, first uninstall kontakt... I tried uninstall with perfect uninstaller but kontakt doesn't even show up there? Help with be appreciated, i have lots of libraries and old projects which use kontakt... Also how to use lumina would be bonus help if you know how that would be nice.. Peace~Tim

 

Delete any of the following folders if they exist:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center (Delete Kontakt 5.xml)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5
C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5

C:\Program Files (x86\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5

C:\ProgramData\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5

C:\Users\PC\Documents\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5
C:\Users\PC\AppData\Local\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5

Then, within the registry, make sure that none of these keys exist,

Registry keys to remove:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5

(optional)
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.NKB
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.NKI
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.NKM
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.NKP
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.NKS
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\NI.Kontakt 5.nki
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\NI.Kontakt 5.nkm

Remember in the Native Instruments folders delete only Kontakt 5 related folders
Reinstall Kontakt 5 not with a update version but a full version or you can use a old full version then use the update 5.3.0.6464 version to update

 

Thanks Kontakt Guru, I did everything you listed including the optional things but couldn't find the ones with kontakt in their name. A fresh installer of kontakt 5 will still not work with same message of please uninstall kontakt from control panel. Strange, I double checked the list, is there anything else I should try. There are still kontakt libraries in the .xml service center and i have a kontakt player version 2, should I delete all these as well?

 

just put all of them in a rar and delete the folders and try again it, should of worked the first time?? Maybe you need to restart your computer to clear the registry

I came across the same kind of problem. When I try to uninstall, windows says it could not be uninstalled because there is nothing installed. When I try to install (5.3 update or full) it says that I need to uninstall first, so that puts me in a loop!

I tried everything...but still!

HI.. I DOWNLOADED KONTAKT 5.3.1 and then unistalled 5.3.0 .. then i couldnt installing 5.3.1 ... after that i can't install any version of kontakt .. i also deleted kotakt in registery too ... Plz help me.. i don't want to install new windows it's 64 bit -7 ... and the error is this "installation is not possible since the full version of Kontakt 5 is found on this computer. The latest version of kontakt 5 can load all kontakt player libraries. You can uprade your extis...

 

You do realize now that Kontakt 5.3.1 was just a update and you weren't suppose to delete 5.3.0....

To fix this problem now you need to install kontakt 5.2.0 or Kontakt 5.2.1 and they will work and just update to kontakt 5.3.1 without uninstalling the previous version.

 

hi im stuck on this aswell i have a project thats heavily relying on kontakt to work ive followed all the instructions above to remove it from the registry and related folders im getting a ton of errors. the error im facing now after ive done a wipe of all the folders and registry strings is that it wzants to uninstall via add or remove programs but add or remove programs doesnt have a native instruments to uninstall from. then it keeps asking me for the install.msi i find that on the downloaded isos and point it in the direction of this file but it rejects it saying its not found in the right folder. is there a removal tool? it seems i cant install a newer version or use konakt at all now. plz help important project is waiting.
