Hi , i have produced an Orchstral / Oriental touched Hip Hop Beat .
I have mixed it on my Yamaha HS80 with Subwoofer .

For the mix i have used Sonarwork reference to correct some of my Room .
When Sonarworks is enabled the Mix sound very good to me , but when Sonarworks is disabled the beat has a little to much Bass (for Hip Hop) , especially the Kick is to Boomy .

don't get me wrong , i wanted a kick that was a bit boomy , similar to the old tracks from 50 Cent , Fat Joe and so on , but is it too much ?
Some Feedback would be Great :winker:

it sounds good, I read your comment about 50 cent before I listened; but it is not a big leap to notice some similarity to Candy Shop. I don't think the kick is too boomy, and you could maybe bring up the half-note bass part some more. There is always more stuff you can change.

Did you just add or replace your subwoofer?

A bit repetitive even in a genre that is takes on a single phrase it lacks the micro expressions that defines the genre as well as rhythmic substructures that create complexity in between the main beat.

As for balance, it is a touch bass heavy but it could pass. IDK to much about Balkan and Oriental balance though aside from what comes up in films scores, it would take a bigger system then what is currently available as is usual at this hour I am responding from my bed while trying to deal with my insomnia.

It is a bit too loud in the sub bass line in regards to the channel balance (toomuch mid lows and not enough sub freq plus way too upfront). The balance, If I reference with ''outta control'' (50 and mobb deep instrumental) you seem to be scooped uped on the mids and high mids and your kick seems to be lacking sub freq. Your percs (SD + HH) sound too boxy and quite a bit too upfront. I'd get them way back and had some bite to them (3 to 5k) with some stereo opening and a bit of room verb to give them some depth.
    You're not far.

I think the bass instrument is fine, it's not "too loud", because it's supposed to be loud. But i'd say the kick is clashing with it a bit too much, every time it hits there's some "woofy" buildup, at least on my monitors. It's not terrible, but it's not clean. So I would cut some of the low-lows of the kick with a low shelf so that the kick and bass can live in their own space a bit better. It may seem counter-intuitive remove some sub from the kick, but it'll hit better if it's not clashing. Even a 2-3db dip could be all it needs.

In general, if i've got a sub bass going on i like the kick to pop more in that "chesty" range (140-200hz-ish?) more than in the subby range. Usually around 170-190hz is the area that sounds like that "ugh!" sound that comes from your chest, but it varies for every sound. Having a gentle slope that dips from like 70-90hz down and maybe a lil' boost in that 170-190hz range (or lower? or higher?) you'll be surprised how much better it knocks. It'll still sound big because the sub bass gives it the illusion that the kick is more pillowy than it is anyway, especially if kick and sub hit at the same time.

Personally i would use something like SplitEQ to remove some of the "tonal / sustain" energy from like 120hz and below, and then add some transient information in the 170-190hz range. Cos the reberb tail on the kick is probably a bit much. Takes away a bit of the impact i'd say.
If you don't have SplitEQ you could use the Ozone Dynamic EQ to do some expansion somewhere in that 150-200hz range, maybe it'll bring the punchy knock out a bit.

You could even boost the sub information on the bass a bit to extend it a bit lower too after you do the things above. That's what i would do anyway

A little goes a long way so no need to go over the top with those boosts and cuts

No , I have always had the subwoofer, but recently started using Sonarworks .

Thank you very much for your feedback , it is really worth a lot to me .

I have changed the mix again something and exchanged a kick drum , there were 3 layered kick drums , one of them I threw out and replaced by another .

The 808 I have also adjusted something, with Waves LoAir I have turned a little more sub in the bottom, but have made them in the complete something quieter.

    here is the revised mix:

Very similar to "Lean Back - Fat Joe", i like it

@BenniTheBlockbuster - have you tried getting the mono cube like auratone for checking the stuff? It helps for Hip-Hop (hint: mix by Ali)

The first version you uploaded sounds better to my ear, or should i say instruments sound more allive and organic, the low end did changed to a better place i feel with the new drums, but still, that snap you had has it´s funk

here´s both versions slammed, most things hold up except the low end ofc, do you use Max Bass from Waves?

no Low cut whatsoever, so i feel if 25% of the sub info would be solved it could be a nicely balanced track
