the main difference is Cardinal is not designed for standalone use. for some systems it will not be able to find the sound card. other systems it will. HOWEVER it's meant to be used as a plugin, which is a paid feature in VCV.

another disadvantage to Cardinal is that you can't add modules, you're stuck with whatever the DSITRHO developers choose for you.

that said, at first i was very excited about Cardinal, but since I don't need to use it as a plugin and i don't want to run it inside another host, I find VCV a better choice.

so Cardinal is still in a sucky stage for what i'd want to use a modular synth for.

The Model E VST Plug-In from Steinberg is modeled after the classic Moog Model D Minimoog, capable of the same fat 3-VCO monophonic bass sounds of the Mini. But because the Model E is a software plug-in you get many more advantages over the real deal. To start, you have MIDI, unlimited storage for your created sounds, super-stable tuning, a warm filter and oscillators with crisp, clear sounds.

Of course you are no longer limited to monophonic sounds, the Model E has 64 voice polyphony and 16 multitimbral parts. Very cool sounding chorus effect. It's supposedly very accurate to the original, unusual hardware. If you can't get a "standard" chorus effect to sound right on a signal, try this one out

Bertom EQ Curve Analyzer 2.0 - Windows, Mac, Linux / VST3, AAX, AU

Lets you analyze the frequency response (magnitude and phase) of any plugin or hardware.

Sandwich the plugin you want to analyze between two instances of EQ Curve Analyzer. Set the first one as signal generator and the second one as analyzer. Adjust latency if needed.

Useful as a learning tool to see what classic EQs emulations are doing for example.
