Maschine Factory Library & NI Expansions Factory/USER Tab Question

    So I've moved from Mac to Windows. All of my Maschine expansions & factory library were installed when I used Mac. Is there a way to have the expansions & factory library show up in the Factory Tab instead of the user tab? I know I'll probably have to create a bunch of installer location txt files, but Its better than having to reinstall all of the libraries one by one again just to have everything show up on the correct tab within Maschine. Any help to get me started would be much appreciated. Cheers!!

    you have to add the location of every expansion to regedit.
    the ContentDir value.

    you can edit a global regedit file like this:

    here i moved all to a E drive, edit the root path to the location you want to use.
    rename the text file in .reg and double clic on it.
    it will locate all the expansions in one step.

    @bobdule Interesting. How could one do this in macOS? Do you have to edit plists instead?

    On macOS, the Libraries only appear in the Factory tab, if you use an expansion's installer – even if you install the actual content onto an external drive. If you don't run installers and just scan the external loction of pre-installed extensions, it adds them to the User tab.

    I believe you have to do something similar like Bob Posted but to the plist files in the library/preferences folder. I’m not totally sure though brother.

    @Moogerfooger I think so, too. This is the plist file for the DJ Khalil Expansion:

    I've got to check if the extension will still be listed under the Factory Tab after moving it to a different drive and adjusting the path of the ContentDIR in the plist.

    EDIT: Nope, that's not the solution. Because I already selected a different location during installation and it shows up in the Factory Tab anyway.

    Here's the solution for macOS
    The following conditions have to be met In order for getting ALL expansions to show up in the "Factory" Tab:
    1. There have to be .plists present for each and every expansion under Library/Preferences.
    2. The name of the plist has to be: com.native-instruments.xxxx yyy (xxx yyyy = Expansion Name)
    3. The plist has to contain the path to the correct content path
    4. Adjust version info (if you know it). Otherwise you can check find it in the list of RegEdit keys Bobdule posted previously.
    Test
    I duplicated the plist of an expansion I've installed recently, changed the file name and and content path so the Amplified Funk Expansion would move to the factory tab. That worked.

    Issues
    • If you have a lot of expansions that becomes a real pain quick.
    • Another issue is that I don't really know all the versions any expansion is on. And once a plist is present in the Library/Preferences folder, it's visible to Native Access.
    • So, if you set the version to 1.0 but you actually have 1.5 or whatever installed already, Native Access will tell you "Hey there's an update available!" because the plist reports a lower version to Native Access.
    Alternative: make every expansion appear under the User Tab instead
    • In Maschine Settings, enable "Scan user content for changes on start-up" under Library/User
    • Add the path to where your Maschine Expansions are located
    • Let it scan
    • Once it's done, quit Maschine
    • In Native Access, open Preferences
    • Adjust the path for the "Content Location" so it points to where you've installed your Maschine Expansions.
    • Quit Native Access
    • Run Maschine
    • Since the "Factory" and "User" content Locations are identical, all the expansions that were previouls listed as Factory will be moved to the User Tab.
    • This way, you have everything in one place and you will still be able to update legit Expansions
