Hi. I'm looking for some nice retro toms... something like 80's. I tried every drum machine and sample packs... you know... Zenhiser, The Patchbay Cristal Clarity... but I'm not happy with them. I'm looking for something that sounds more real. If you know some, I would apreciate you to tell me.

Electronic? Acoustic? Genre? How about one or two reference tracks?

 

If synthetic, I can't assign a better image of the 80's of the Simmons SDSV.

Sorry for not being precise. As I told you before, I tried a lot of libraries, including the most popular. However they sound electronic, synthetic and with reverb already applied. I was looking for RAW acoustic toms... something that sounds more realistic for the mix.

Mh, you can turn off the reverb, overheads and room in ADD, BFD and SD and they're all sampled from acoustic drums so I don't understand your problem exactly. You'll hardly get any closer when looking for dry acoustic drum vstis.

Try to find the analogue drums sample packs. Unfortunately the company did go out of business. Their sample packs are all acoustic drums. I think that is what you are looking for. You might try the sister site

Of course, being "80's", you might need the gated reverb from hell....

OR, you could use the toms you have and watch this video from 7 mins 15 onwards. It might be exactly what you're looking for and I checked.. the plugin he uses is on the sister site.
