they should at this point give up on the stupid WUP thing...
instead charge more for their plugins for perpetual, or offer the subscription, like plugin alliance

Funny, but this is a nice list everyone should study for a bit. For example, Instead of RennaisanceComp that is pretty great workhorse compressor, the alternative is a remarkably great FirComp compressor that I use now all the time without thinking. Such great workhorse compressor. It's also free for Linux users...

 

Waves announced today that they come back to the usual selling mode in parallel to the optional subscription.

But I think that they have definitely killed their reputation and image for the eternity.

Very few people will keep on trusting them now. They have been totally disrespectful toward their long time customers.

After the chaotic behavior they've had in managing plugin prices for a few years, this decision was the last straw. And followed with a huge backtracking that shows to what extent their commercial policy is made on the spur of the moment without any real prior analysis. I think there will be lynching and firing in the air at Waves headquarters. My guess is that the 2013 financials are going to be disastrous at the end of the year. And since the concurrence will take advantage of the windfall to get a large part of Waves' clientele who will never trust them again, it is already reasonable to say that Waves... it's finished.

 

I don't think so.
Just give it two months, maybe three and customers will move on and forget about it.
There's so much going on everywhere and people are so busy with their lives that they will easily move on.
They understood their error and were very swift to correct it.
Bottom line is Waves did the right thing here and many companies should take note.

 

Guys,
They simply are near to bankruptcy if this is the way to act with clients.
Maybe they want to get more profit from the business because all we know, is not an easy time for everything…they are not alone in this crazy time with inflation and crisis on every part of the planet, they try to make changes to get better..without thinking to the client needs, this was to me a complete different strategy change…and it means only what i wrote in start, to be in financial difficulty.
They simple get the feedback..(the bankruptcy was more near with this rent only plan) and here we are, now if you waves guys are reading my message, put a discount on update plan like you always do for the plugins, and lot of clients will be able again to put some money on your business, my studio still survive, i buy plugins i support the developers but developers needs also respect us.
Please discount this update plan.
