Which vintage FX do you prefer for analog emulations? Arturia or Waves?

Arturia: Good collection of solid reliable and easy to work with plugins. Highly recommended you buy the complete collection in a sale.
On the down side, if they are anything like the synth plugins, at some point they will update them and the updates will not sound the same....
Waves: Some really old plugins, GUIs are mince, limited controls will cost more in the long run, however on the plus side, in 20 years time you will still be able to purchase and install the same plugin....!
Your choice, but I would buy the Arturia.

Totally different gear emulated so it's hard to compare. Waves don't have 33609, STA Level, SansAmp, culture vulture, w295b, v76's etc. I think analog emulation from arturia pretty solid, not only with fx but with synths, only loosing for AA in terms of "hardware like" sound. Waves is workhorse bundle for mixing, also with analog emulation, but not so worried with tone, and less CPU in general.

Waves. The Arturia ones are nice! I was surprised by them. But you will get infinitely more use out of Waves.

It depends on which synth you want.

For the OB-Xa, I highly recommend Synapse audio Obsession.
For the oberheim sem and ob-e, I recommend gforcesoftware
For anything else I would go for arturia

Black Rooster. NoiseAsh. old PSP. Wait, synths? U-He. Diva and Repro.

I did not think synths mattered, because this is in Mixing Section; but also because Waves would not even be mentioned for synths. No way. ;O)

Since "neither" was mentioned I suggest you look for individual plugins instead of whole companies catalogues.

I would like to know more about you. Only then I can suggest anything to you. Because, the truth is, everything works fine. Great engineers used some of the worst plugins (according to user feedback online) and came up with a great mix. It's all about what you feel good, inspiring.

Pick your top 5 favorite engineers. Their preferred plugin emulation will differ from each other. Because there is no better plugin in this subjective world of music.

    Objectively speaking, just pick Trackcomp2.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Between the two and considering only analog emulations, i'll have to go with waves. Many reasons for that, but the main one is that arturia doesn't hava a dedicated fully parametric eq (yet), which for me is important.

You could argue that busforce has a fully parametric eq, but the plugin is not really ment as an eq or even a regular channel strip, so it's a bit too much.

This. Even just u-he and Softube will do, but PSP has great EQs and FX, nice addition to aforementioned two. Less is definitely more in this case. Waves has 500 nothing special plugins and Arturia has alright synths. It's not really a choice cos they make different plugins. If you like them you should have both. :)

Waves will change its protection scheme soon (I think in few weeks), if you like the plugins update it to the latest real quick because we don't know what they will update to soon and probably will lose all the access.

I won't choose between the two, both has its place and I will happily use both. Arturia's compressors are really good, sold your hardware and use the plugin kinda good, while Waves Abbey Road series whether it sounds as accurate as the real one or not is among the best sounding plugin out there (if used correctly). Waves utility plugins are hard to replace though, R-Bass, MV2, to name a few, are those that I used frequently.
