Most developers are pretty quiet these days. No more innovative plugins show up.
I guess they are busy for developing something new using A.I.
GPT-4 has come and the new wave on the plugin market may be on the way. Probably, this year will be full of surprise.

    I don't think so.
AI isn't that a big thing in music. At least not today and in the near future. GPTx is just a chat bot system. No promise of salvation for everything...
Specialized AI has (supposedly) been used in some plugins, after all. I haven't heard anything about them changing the world. Bad musicians suck even with AI.

P.S.: What I can imagine is that AI will soon be used by Lyricist. But ... OK, when I listen to the lyrics of current music, it can hardly get worse.

They are busy figuring out how to implement a subscription model and many other new and exciting ways of keeping the money flowing (TM), now with 20% more neural network!

There's no more innovative plugins to be made. All the things your mind can imagine already were done by some dev. Even with A.I.. My perspective is a wave of noise shaping plugins, like dithers that are not dithers and smart filters like gullfoss to give a certain vibe to the sound. But wait, that was also made...

Let's develop a plug in as a community that uses A.I. to analyze your track (put it on the master bus) and tell you that it's garbage.

Just put post-it note "you suck" on the corner of your screen, no need for AI

I think we need a few dozen more opto compressors. And something to replace guitar players once and for all. Then we'll be done.

It just won't have the same "oomph" though, plus we could program it to have creative ways to say it so that no one thinks it's fake, you know "This track is horrible" or "This track would be better if I created it".

In fact, I'm pretty sure that AI-generated audio will play a pretty big role in the next few years. Just read the current papers. First in video games, then in TV productions, then in cinema and finally increasingly in music production.

I found an AI breakbeat pack on sister site that went up today. It sounds interesting. Like the quality is lacking HEAVILY but there are some "unique" patterns

All is going downhill AND fast

    Remember Kemper ?
10 years to see a concurrent product

    Quad Cortex ?
Less than 3 years to see ANOTHER concurrent

    ToneX pedal ?
    Last month release ...

I can take the SAME figure in EVERY domain
And after all this fast "market saturation", guess what happens ...

The "storm" is not what 99.99% percent of humanity is expecting

Devs have to face global market saturation too.
WHO is really going to pay for 100 compressors, synths ... whatever ?

"Subscription model" is already over, because saturated.
And there is no "next model".

AI is just the last "saturation" : WHO is going to pay for AI ... when AI replaced his job ?
Make a gigantic popcorn stock ... it is going to serve you this year (and the next one)

Buy it now, because tomorrow ... you never know

Thats really the main point. What can a dev do that breaks thru the saturation these days?? I think we are in the beginnings of finite times. Ive maintained for probably a decade now that I will be alive when humanity gets real close to understanding everything.

As Terence McKenna said "the experience of time passing is conditional on the number of events that happen within it". To me this means, in the age of AI, shit will really accelerate... ANd in the music software industry, get to the point where there is literally nothing else to make as it has all been done before.

How many roland synth vst knockoffs are there, and how are they different? Essentially they are all the same emulation of something that was brought into existence.... To me, i'm not really seeing antyhitn NEW brought to existence, and if there is something "new" out there, they sure as fuck wont be making vst's of it in 2050-2060, like how flagship synths from 40 years ago are being made now digitally.
