If you want to try this rare 1998-2000 vst that took me months to download on emule send me a jingle. its definitely old school sounding and it won't work on modern windows but if you have an xp machine it will work on that. it may also work on newer 32-bit versions of windows (didn't try) but the installer doesn't work on 64-bit Windows 11.

I wanted to try it, but setting up an XP machine (even a VM) is a hassle. Also I don't think the VST exposes any parameters to automate, which is a bit disappointing.

 

yeah. you pretty much need a dedicated old xp computer to use this. hopefully someone talented will see this post and fix the installer for 64-bit windows. you can record all knob changes in fruity loops though (filter cutoff etc...) i can confirm that.

EDIT: Since several people have PM'd me about how I got this to work on WIN10,...

The machine I manually deployed and authorized this on is Windows 10 1903.
It has remained OFFLINE since 2019. No MS updates\patches. DEP is turned off and Super Admin was enabled years ago. The only "OS' things that get installed are .Net or Visual C updates.

Since others could not get it to work, I had somebody perform the same manual method I used but on a Windows 10 22H2. Unless prior to running the authorizer, you had Super Admin enabled, it looks like you need to run the authorizer and / or the DAW as well as Admin for it to show as authorized and work.

I am sure there are any number of things that MS has pushed in the last 4 years that
could turn something off you had enabled or if you never disable(d) all the Windows priv restriction stuff, some things won't work as I found out years ago trying to make Zero-X BeatQuantizer load on a WIN10 x64 machine. Turns out DEP was blocking app from executing since it used a specific area of memory that WIN DEP didn't like.

Thanks for the share argo3k. Works (and authorizes) great on Windows 10. Installer doesn't work on Windows 10 of course, but you can manually drop the files in appropriate locations. The extracted pdf manual (pg 14) lists what files go where. Installer writes presets to Windows\RetroAS1 directory, but you can place them elsewhere. As bridged 64 bit even works well in BC Patchwork.

Well, i'm stuck with the installer. Win10 wont launch it, no way. So please, could you post separate elements with its position inside Win 10? The authorizer app seems working anyway. Thanks in advance!!!

What a completely backward and asinine company. I was dumb enough to fall for getting their Unity-1 sampler. That piece of junk STILL sits here on the garbage software shelf in it's original box. Had retro-1 too and sill have the installs here for it. Nothing memorable about it either. The sampler NEVER worked right. And when it did work half-assed, it was constantly crashing, with glitchy audio, and had a totally crap interface... They never did FIX their stupid software and went out of business before I could put the iron to them. As I remember NOTHING they put out in the short life of the company was really worth two shite's to rub together...

More likely you'll need something like Win98 SE (and that same class of hardware) to run that junk. Or maybe an emulation environment that runs on modern hardware. At any IMO not even worth the effort...

 

I remember Retro AS-1 under Macintosh PowerPC, MacOS 9, and I have older mac Power Mac 9600.
