I use my second ISP which uses ADSL telephone lines so its limited to 10Mbps download but reloading any page blocked by government makes it start working. Irony is that it is a government owned company. This doesn't work with my first ISP which is fibre broadband. However I have got Windscribe and Proton just in case...

I use epic and when downloading from the sister site from RG or UL just switch proxy and you can download again, and again, and again....for free, speed is not the fastest, but you don't have to wait an hour or 2 between each download. I would recommend this to anyone

    Hello to everybody,

I would like to ask if anybody has any experience with Kaspersky Secure Connection VPN, it seems priced very good and with lots of great features for a paid VPN service.

Thanks a lot in advance for any feedback...

My VPN experiences re: the above.
    Freedome - Never tried it
epic - Tried the browser for about a month. Not the VPN part, though, since I heard it's not really a VPN but a proxy destination that caps you at 500MB/month. And since epic is secretive about their code...
Psiphon - Heard of it but heard it was problematic, so...
Windscribe - I had this for a year. Works fine. No more, though. I don't like the fact that your credit card stays on file and they re-charge you without your knowledge, so...
ProtonVPN - Slow as molasses. Slow, slow, slow. Snail slow. Sloth slow. Smoking the strongest kush slow.
Opera - I looked into this but it seems like it doesn't exist anymore. Still, being a Chinese-owned business, can it be trusted?
VPN Gate - It works but there's no kill switch. Your IP gets leaked while it switches servers. DANGEROUS if you're being spied upon by, say, Iranian or Russian officials.
VPNBOOK - Didn't even connect at all.
1.1.1.1 - Never heard of it.

I recommend the following three since they don't ask for credit card numbers.
    1. ZenMate - 7 days free
    2. Windscribe - 10gb/month
    3. Privado - 10gb/month

Yes. But I had bad experiences with paid VPN too.
Actually I used it because my fck provider slowed down emule to a ridiculous speed, and using VPN magically throttled it like a rocket.
Problem is, it disconnected link several times, and the killswitch was not working properly living me exposed.
Not an easy choice, even MOST paid VPNs aren't as safe as you think they are.
As for me, I use a browser VPN plugin just to circumvent the country block, but I don't illude myself on privacy matters.

  15. Completely agree. Back when I wrote the comment you're quoting (May 2022) Surfshark was performing well, once Nord acquired the company they went to total CRAP with all sorts of problems! My favorite was when they did an app update that Windows Defender was identifying as malware. Nowadays I wouldn't trust them as far as I can spit, and I feel the same towards Nord. Even ExpressVPN, which at one time had a great rep has had a lot of problems. If anyone searching for a VPN service does some research you can find reports on some of the screw ups by well-known popular VPN's pretty easily.

I switched over to Mullvad now which so far seems pretty good, but even with that one there are some difficulties, like a large percentage of websites knowing you're on a VPN when you use Mullvad servers -- because of that the site will block you. What I do really like about them for now is that unlike most of the VPN's that hawk long term subscriptions, like 2 and 3 years, Mullvad is just month-to-month, and so if they start to go down hill you're not stuck with them and you can just move on to something else. Month-to-month also gives the company an incentive to keep service at premium levels since you can pretty much go elsewhere whenever you want. Unfortunately, Mullvad has no 'free' program so it wouldn't work for the OP of this thread, but at roughly $5.30 USD a month, it's not too bad and I think they're much safer and more private than most of the really popular VPN's like Nord. I'm on Mullvad for about 10 months now, and haven't seen or heard of any screw ups by them yet.

Think it was back in early '21 I been using Nord. Worked perfectly for some months until the first update that appeared during my use of it and all subsequent updates. Then it worked like shit. Lots of 'you're not connected to the internet' problems when torrenting and using a browser and then also when just using a browser, although I was actually still connected when turning vpn off. Also problems were intermittent.... sometimes it'd work fine for as much as 4-5 days, then boom, outta nowhere, 'you're not connected to the internet' constantly. After my year subscription ran out didn't renew.

This is a common issue, once they crop VPN servers, they fall in blacklist forcing to aquire more and more IPs/servers that will eventually be blacklisted as well.

  18. Agreed, I think it afflicts all of the VPN services nowadays. Mullvad had escaped it for awhile because they were smaller and less well known than some. Due to some very positive reviews of them that came out over the past year, they got a lot of new business which led to a greater awareness of the IP addresses of their servers. But the fact is, unfortunately, until the VPN companies start changing IP addresses much more rapidly there's no longer escaping this problem with any of them. You can still hide your real IP address with a VPN, but it seems you can no longer hide the fact you're on a VPN.

Navigating the free VPN world is a journey, right? I've got a gem for you – ProtonVPN. It's been my go-to for a while. Not only does it effectively hide your real IP, but it's also incredibly user-friendly. No hidden costs, just smooth, secure browsing. Give it a spin and enjoy the freedom of a reliable free VPN! Also, if you are considering switching to a proxy server, check out http://pyproxy.com/?utm-source=crd&utm-keyword=?s1111/. Best of luck!
