I was expecting a March 2023 announcement at the earliest unless Apple, was able to sort out issues that arose in 2022 that prevented the complete transition from Intel, to Apple Silicon. Also the delay of M2 Mac Mini, 14" MacBook Pro M2 and 16" MacBook Pro M2. Only the MacBook Pro will get the M2 Max chip.

Here are Apple’s MSRPs before and after the M2 Pro updates:

    14-inch MacBook Pro
    • WAS: M1 Pro, 8-Core CPU, 14-Core GPU, 16GB Unified Memory, 512GB SSD: $1,999/£1,899
    • NOW: M2 Pro, 10-Core CPU, 16-Core GPU, 16GB Unified Memory, 512GB SSD: $1,999/£2,149
    • WAS: M1 Pro, 10-Core CPU, 16-Core GPU, 16GB Unified Memory, 1TB SSD: $2,499/£2,399
    • NOW: M2 Pro, 12-Core CPU, 19-Core GPU, 16GB Unified Memory, 1TB SSD: $2,499/£2,699
    • NEW: M2 Max, 12-Core CPU, 30-Core GPU, 32GB Unified Memory, 1TB SSD: $3,099/£3,499
    16-inch MacBook Pro
    • WAS: M1 Pro, 10-Core CPU, 16-Core GPU, 16GB Unified Memory, 512GB SSD: $2,499/£2,399
    • NOW: M2 Pro, 12-Core CPU, 19-Core GPU, 16GB Unified Memory, 512GB SSD: $2,499/£2,699
    • WAS: M1 Pro, 10-Core CPU, 16-Core GPU, 16GB Unified Memory, 1TB SSD: $2,699/£2,599
    • NOW: M2 Pro, 12-Core CPU, 19-Core GPU, 16GB Unified Memory, 1TB SSD: $2,699/£2,899
    • WAS: M1 Max, 10-Core CPU, 32-Core GPU, 32GB Unified Memory, 1TB SSD: $3,499/£3,299
    • NOW: M2 Max, 12-Core CPU, 38-Core GPU, 32GB Unified Memory, 1TB SSD: $3,499/£3,749

14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro 2023: New MacBook Pro arrive

For us normal Mac users who waited, this could be very welcome news. For those who need to replace the Mac Pro (cheese grater), maybe a new, more powerful Mac Studio is coming.

Apple could always surprise us again with a new Mac Pro replacement that is upgrade-able and performs as expected.

Hoping testing out in the wild will suggest it is time to upgrade from Intel based Mac systems.

There are so many disappointments for recent Mac & Windows based products.

All I want is a 32gb RAM M1 Mac Mini. Is that too much to ask, Apple?

It is for visitors, such as Dblurgh )
So that He do not look for M1, but bought M2 cheaper.

This year, Mac Pro will also be updated, there will be M2 24 cores, with an unchanged memory, but I don’t see prices yet, although they will be sky-high. Maybe I need to look at Mac Mini M2 ))

yea and frankly M2 Pro Mac Mini upgraded with non-crippled M2 Pro chip, 32GB ram, 512GB ssd and 10Gbe nic isn't even that cheaper than better Mac Studio with better cooling

Apple prices (in Europe) are getting more and more ridiculous every year,
"upgrade" price from 16GB to 32GB is as much as 128GB DDR5 ram kit for PC,
base model M2 Mac Mini is not better and costs exactly same like HP Mini 400 G9 (8G/256G with 6-core 12th gen i5),
    base model M2 Pro is 40% more expensive than almost equally-performing HP Mini 600 G9 (16G/512G with 6-core 12th gen i5)

Zero price increase for the US market, but the UK customers are hit with an increase.

haha i thought the same, but nah 24GB+1TB SSD costs 1399 bucks (insane! and thats with M2). :deep_facepalm:
Not talking about a Studio as these prices are more insane.
Design arguments do not count, bcs its a fucking computer, i dont care how it looks, it could come in a trashcan as long as it runs and performs fine.

and also again the shit is monolith, means you cant upgrade, but well apple want to make it impossible to upgrade yourself. :knock:

If only they could fullfill these points, they would be unstoppable.

yeah but thats like 2199 bucks with 1TB SSD. Could build two computer from that with that.
    Also its still with M1's.

    Apply being stupid again.

If it only was possible to use MacOS stuff with a normal PC again, ARM based. But nah PC side still hanging around on x86-x64 architecture.

honestly there's nothing wrong with using MacOS on x86-x64 platform, no software developer yet introduced any noticeable features which would make use of Apple Silicon potential (neural engine, unified memory etc...),
if it was that bad, Apple would replace 2019 Intel Mac Pro, but guess what, ARM (Apple Silicon) isn't yet there when it comes to total (PCIe) bandwidth and flexibility/modularity, and never will be,

literally only issue with running new MacOS on new desktop PC hardware is, limited hardware support from MacOS (be it P+E cores on 12th/13th gen Intel, and RX 7900 XT or nVidia RTX series support)

A Trashcan Mac Pro will run all the current Intel scene releases like :woot: and they will continue getting cheaper. You can already find a great spec one for about 1000$.

We are getting to the point with computing where the requirements for Audio work are so vastly exceeded by our machines. RAM for m1+ machines is so expensive for the upgrades and is nearly as important as processor speed.

The next Mac Pro I buy will be another Intel dual processor. Having 64gig memory and a dual processor is going to be hard to go back from. Maybe I'll get a new laptop first, but I doubt it will not be an Intel.

If only - one could build their own M2 or M1 Mac computer. :dunno: But nah apple makes that impossible.

Works dual core for you still?

If you add synths/FX plugins, it will be quickly filled up?

The trashcan thing was only a joke. Because Apple users often say, they buy Macs for the design.

Can't upgrade yourself, have to buy proprietary everything, performance/cost ratio, etc, etc, etc..thanks for educating me on why I don't need one.

Maybe if they brought back Claris for word processing....

Trashcan Mac Pro even for 1000 bucks is way too expensive to make sense from anything else than design standpoint,
it's not officially supported by new MacOS Ventura, so people are practically making it OpenCore hackintosh - at which point you could as well just build an up-to-date hackintosh, where fankly Intel with their 12th/13th gen really upped their game when it comes to performance - check Passmark Single Thread performance (which is still what matters most for audio and other daily tasks) and you can see 13th gen low-end Intel Core i3 basically matches M1, and the M2 isn't even in top 20,
that said, M2 isn't even faster than most current Intel/AMD cpus already (and power draw in desktop doesn't really matter either), not even talking about the RAM capacity options and their prices...

not that I'd want to refute your mindset, but I wonder why dual-processor setup?
regardless of architecture, having two separate dies results in less than ideal performance at twice the costs, Mac Studio Max vs Ultra be it a good illustration of non-linear performance improvement,
current most popular 2019 Mac Pro spec is with 1 physical cpu of 16-core Xeon (32 threads) is way too much overkill already, it's not a coincidence new M2 Max has "only" 8 performance cores (other 4 are efficiency, to fit the 12-core marketing bullshit) as that's more than vast majority of users will ever need (new M2 Mac Mini has "again" only 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores)

my cheesegrater is dual 2.4ghz Xeon processors, my i7 loaded 2.7ghz MacBook Pro is not; and I get much better stability when using Logic (and everything else) with the Pro. The CPU speed difference is noticeable only on very long renders like a full song bouncing, or with plugins that unnecessarily eat cpu. But it also has 4x the memory. A new Pro is not going to be the 3K a laptop costs, it will be way more. Therefore I see myself waiting on another non-Intel tower purchase. Something like a Garbage Can Pro is much more likely. But I am not running Final Cut or Resolve, etc.
