iam thinking of buying a tv screen for music production. or should i get a dedicated computer screen? iam 1,5-2 m away, what would you buy?
is 65" too much?

This is a very difficult question, cause we don't know your current situation. Can you tell us some more details?
1.5-2m is quite far away. Why is that? Do you use a big console or mixer in front of you?
If sitting closer isn't possible, you should go for a big screen of course.
In terms of resolution you should at least go for qhd 1440p or better uhd 2160p.
In terms of aspect ratio the width is more important than the height imho, that's why I went with a 21:9 flat monitor instead of a 16:9. I like 21:9 and I'm using a 34" ultrawide screen, it's about 70-80cm away, perfect for my needs. Yours may be different.
Which aspect ratio do you prefer and what's your budget? Most likely you'll find a bigger tv screen for less money than a dedicated computer screen.
Do you prefer a curved screen or a flat one?
Maybe sth like this one:

Do you plan to use a vesa mount or the default stand?

Just keep in mind that looking up all the time is a pain in the neck, literally.

If are going to use a large television as a monitor be sure you can place it low enough that you don't put a permanent crook in your neck after hours of looking up to see things on the top part of your screen.

 

Finances are everything.
A TV will cost you less than a dedicated top of the range Samsung curved monitor of similar size.

 

Definition : 2k is the sweet spot price/resolution (QHD/WQHD)
4K BIG screen is of course better ... but not the same price range

1 to 2m is not a regular monitoring distance
My 2K is now at less than 1 m

 

@Ghostripper What is your budget? That should be the starting point.

Agree with this a lot. It's a huge pet peeve of mine to go somewhere and a person mounted their tv up to high. You don't want your neck to have to move around much, nor your eyes that much either.

65" is also too large a screen for that distance. Take my word on that. We downsized a 65 to a 55 in one area that was a bit further distance (this is for TV watching). I'd say keep it under 50" for that distance.. But if you hunt around there are many sites which have size/resolution calculators if you provide distance.

Do not get 65" or your neck / eyes / head will hate you later

Get something that can stay entirely within your field of view. I have a 65" TV in the living room and using it as a computer monitor from a meter away is pretty painful. There's probably a sweet spot in the 45" to 55" range and 4K panels are getting cheaper and cheaper - I usually scoff at 4K panels but on 45"+ you might as well get one. Your only concern would be what kind of panel to get. IPS and especially OLED panels are VERY prone to burn-in while VA panels (jacks of all trades, masters of none) are pretty much immune. Just something to consider if you leave the same window up for hours.

I use a bottom of the barrel 27" 1080p VA Samsung curved monitor - the curve is barely noticeable and it's there exclusively for marketing purposes but it's not bad and after hundreds of hours of leaving the same windows and images on it there's zero burn-in whatsoever.

my information was kind of misleading, my ears are 1,5 m away from my monitor speakers, and those speakers are 1,5 m away from every wall.
i thought about a big screen, but don't want it interfere with the speakers. a wall mount is too far away i guess.
so maybe 2 smaller screens.
i have 2 independent hdmi outputs btw.
budget i would say no more than 400€ each.

 

I use a 32" from 1m away and it is great until I have a project in logic open which is wider than 50 tracks. At that point, I wish I had another one with my mixer firmly stuck inside it. Have you considered going the smaller 2 monitor route before this thread? Especially since you have connectivity for it. Maybe someone with some monster screen can say that isn't a better option, but I would really give it thought. Especially if you have ever had an expensive monitor fail, like I have before.

 

I went with 2 Dell UltraSharp 27" 2k (1440) screens and it was perfect for me. Should fit into your price range.

1.5-2m away!? I would need a 52" screen or yes 65", mate. Blind as a bat.

Isn't it better to buy a quality 27-32" and put it in front of you? You get a much better screen for much less money.

After some testing (65" 4k & 38" UW 4k)
I ended up with 2 32" 2k displays on my desk. Lots of screen esteate and the DPI is perfect for me. Not to small not to big. No scaling necessary.

 

which one did you get?

 

I bought 2 pretty cheap gaming monitors 1 year ago. Gigabyte 32QC. Got a good deal on eBay. I paid 450€ for both.
But keep in mind you don't need 165hz and 1 ms for audio work. There are even cheaper ones. The DPI of a 32" 2k is the sweet spot you should try. For me, it is a lot better than bigger 4k displays.
