This has become a real problem. If I'm layering instruments in kontakt and trying to play them all together its only a matter of time before I play a note from one of the instruments articulation keys. Is there any way to tweak it and make them all sustains or something? Do people even use these articulations half the time on keys lol. I feel like its kind of impractical most of the time.

They can be removed or remapped in every one I've ever used. Dive through the menu pages, it's not standard but it is there, unless you have some real obscure lib.

Also, yes I for one do use the articulation switches and I think many people do as well.

You could record your layers sequentially and have your DAW filter midi events

If your midi keyboard is programable you can program the split on your midi controller and split the keyboard into different channels. Doing it that way notes at split points transmit on different midi channels and don't inadvertently trigger anything. There is a bit of menu diving involved if your controller doesn't have an external editor, I have not owned every controller out there but the ones I have usually have a native layering function and octave transposition per layer so you can adjust the ranges of the layers.

Generally if there is a will with MIDI there is a way or workaround. It might not be pleasant the first time but with familiarity it become second nature.

If you list specific instruments and DAW someone might know something that could have been overlooked. As things stand with the information made available there is nothing really more to add.

    Good luck.

    Like @JMOUTTON said.
You can also use a MIDI filter plugin before Kontakt. Just set it to "let pass only the real notes" of your kontakt instruments.
