Hello. I'll make this short and sweet.

I've been on the look for the drum sample used in these tracks for years. No luck in finding them. It was commonly used in 2000s-2010s tactical military media, so it's obviously not an obscure thing. It's none of the cinematic drums played, it's that filtered sounding drum loop that you'll notice if you listen.

    Example 1
Sample starts being audible around 0:04

    Example 2
Sample heard prominently throughout the entire song.

    Example 3
    Sample begins at around 3:27

If anybody knows the name of the sample or drum kit used, your help would be greatly appreciated.

These are big league Game developers. Metal Gear? Yeah, they can purchase anything they want to make these. So money/budget is of no issue to them. They are most certainly not "crate digging". They buy the biggest name releases.

They will always be major "labels" releases. EastWest, BigFish, Loopmasters, Kontakt Libraries. All would be on the table.

For me, I would guess some of the biggest/ best selling Kontakt libraries with these Cinematic Drums you hear in every film. Like Heavyocity Damage. Here is a quick google result I liked, it is a rather good list: https://supremesamples.com/ultimate-list-of-cinematic-kontakt-drum-libraries-for-epic-composers/

If you're looking for good cinematic drum sounds, check out True Strike by ProjectSAM it's great and expressive with great military snares but i would recommend anyone to check out Best Service's Ethno World for anything really it's crazy good and it has as well amazing standard and Piccolo military snares with great sounding loops and one shots.

Isn't there a program like they have for DNA, where we could cut a sample out of a recording; and then run it past the database for matches and similarities?

Like XO or Sononym, but where a new file can be easily loaded for comparison against a sample library stored on a hard disk? You'd get results down to the file they used, not just simple suggestions of similar material to go dig through...

I'm only specifically looking for the drum sample that is played across all examples (around the timestamps provided). I'm good on cinematic percussion libraries. Appreciate the recommendation though!

if you want to get something this specific, why don't you cut out a copy of the single sample you want to figure out then? Otherwise you will get guesswork.

it sounds like a pitched up conga. that one? in the third example sounds like dnb?

It's that filtered drum sound. You can hear it pretty well in the first example since it's front and center in the track.

if you have UVI Shade filter, you could make a suitable replacement fast and easily. But you are after the specific sample like it is from some big pack and "you gotta finally figure it out", I can't help with. You probably already have 20 copies of it, in some form. That's not going to help an ocd thing, and I do tend to get like that about breakbeats. It has music over it, or a Sononym "scan" might work if someone had enough samples. ;]

This does not satisfy Sample OCD, though. Sometimes you hear the same sample in a few tracks, and it will get annoying not knowing where it is from. :suicide:

Created account just to help you ;) to me the rhythmic filtered audio in your examples sounds like Camel Audio Camel Space i think is the first preset when you load the plugin effect another one can be the very old filter effect plugin north pole but im quite sure it is camel space if you talking about the military snare drums well any decent loop may do the job for that or kontakt library or similar have a good day.

I've heard the same thing in many other places, hell, even in some local telenovelas.

And yes, it's always the exact same sound, with that panning/delay thing and all, so that's definetively the sound of the sample itself and not a processed one shot.

I checked again to be sure and is effect plugin prosoniq north pole (1997) the same rhythmic filtering action can be heard on games from 1998/99 modern option and better camel space and it is the first preset (when you load the plugin in your daw)
example of camel space peset RYM BlueMagoo
