How does this answer my question Mr Sorry? Or do you assume that a VST synth is inevitably better because a hardware synth of the same name has been released prior?

I restate my question: Can it do anything that Vital can't do? Please no comical Sherlock / Mr Sorry type answers.

why not click the product link page and go through the specifications,, in case you are really interested in what sets it apart from Vital.

IMO (almost) every synth has its own kind of unique vibe/flow and if you are open to learning it, it may reward you with something nice.

if not and you are convinced by a certain product being *theee best* be it Serum or Vital or whatever, why waste your time?

 

No, that's a misunderstanding. My intention was not to say Vital is the best. I just recognised the similarity in function at first glance. I guess these type of Wavetable + easy modulation capacity type of synths are what is most popular and kind of the current standard now. I do understand that 2 synths that look similar at first glance can still be pretty different in detail, hence my question. Is there anything that Modwave does "better" or differently from Vital?

I mean one thing I can see that sets Modwave apart is the Kaoss Pad style x-y modulation in the middle, but I don't know how useful it would be to operate it via mouse?

 

sorry, indeed you never said anything about *best* WT synth

I guess what makes it *special* is that it shares its base engine with the hardware version and since the hardware is out of reach financially for many (me including) this is a factor that makes it charming.

BTW about the x-y pad: I use a Korg nanopad (not too expensieve) https://www.korg.com/us/products/computergear/nanopad2/
for such things, but as some have pointed out any pad shoud work - even your smartphone (no experience with that..)

also it is pretty easy to route any xy pads to normal knob controllers, you basically just use two knobs to do the same thing.

 

Even a smartphone will do the job!

 

The first thing to look at to see differences between synthesisers, are the filters. Different filters lead to very different result, even with the same wavetables.
