Vintage Synths 2 out...

 

Just to be clear, for a totally fresh install of v4 (ie. ive never had any reFX plugins or libraries installed on this Win 10 PC before), do I need to do the whole "edit the setting.json file" thing everyone keeps mentioning?

Or just install the plugin (I only want the VST3 plugin) to Common files/VST3 and then drag and drop the XP folders (v3 and v4 XP's) into the Nexus content folder (not sure where that will be located but I assume somewhere in ProgramData or User data/documents area)?

There are so many varying comments its kinda hard to decipher the correct steps and locations for a successful installation.

 

You only need to do the json edit thing if you intend to have your expansions somewhere other than the default.
Default is users/public/documents/refx/nexus library.

One other question, I just finished downloading all the XP's I wanted from v3.4.4 that had v3 plugin + 180GB of XP's - I didn't download the v3 program or around like 150GB of the XP's I dont want - now looking inside the Nexus 3/Nexus content folder, there are lots of subfolders (Samples, NKS, Impulses, Licenses...), so after installing v4 + the individual v4 XP's, do I just drop the entire v3 Nexus content folder into the newly installed 'users/public/documents/refx/nexus library' folder and merge the subfolders or do I need to open each folder and drag just the files into the respective folders one by one?

Sorry if its a dumb question, I just want to get it right the first time.

 

You need to copy 3 folders from each XP: NKS, Presets & Samples. Merge them with the existing folders with those names in the Nexus Library folder.

Hi Stevie it used to be avatar.png file in C:\Users\Public\Documents\reFX\nexus\<alphanumeric>\avatar.png but with N4 the location seems to have changed. Do let me know too if you find it

New Future Rave XP is out, too. They dont updatet to new version so its working for the V.R Release.

 

Hello, Is there a way to make Nexus read sub folders? I have some external presets but it would be more convenient to have them on separate folders.

 

One obvious problem in N4 is, if you duplicate the plugin ( in FLS, You duplicate the Instrument; in S1, you execute 'Duplicate Complete' on the Instrument track containing N4), the plugin looses the set 'Skin'.
For tme the size doesn't change if I duplicate but the skin does.
But I think someone wrote on AZ otherwise.

I transferred the old avatar to the next folder and it all worked. Same thing for vanguard

 

Which folder ? what file name ? format ?

 

just a first impression on nexus 4. first of all I experience drops, so for me it's unusable.
more importantly I can't understand why anybody would use it instead of uvi falcon. the sound isn't there.
faster workflow?

got it working properly sounds just as good as falcon but it's faster. They sound great together.

it didn't work before because I named it "avatar.png" instead of "Avatar.png"

 

Does anyone has the trancegate, effects and layer button missing on the 4.5.4 update just released?

Nexus 4.5 changed that and it shows correct.
