Lack of definition can be solved by replacing the cab with a good IR, yet that mid-heavyness issue (some people describe it as "cocked wah sound") is not easy to solve. 99% of the captures have that and it needs lots of post tweaking with 3rd party vst plugins to get rid of that. It took me dozens of hours of tweaking to get there, but I am happy with the results now.

    Matchless will work right.

    SLO100 or BE100 crancked ?
Not for now ... and may be never

Find me a SINGLE crunchy Marshall on ToneX demo

Because HERE we can clearly hear Kemper eating ToneX for breakfast, whereas Kemper is 10+ years old :

ToneX is too smooth, not dynamic enough.

It is accurate frequency wise, but sucks dynamic wise.
No attack, no crunch, no chug, no punch ...

As i said earlier, even my Mooer GE200 do a better job on high gains :

For real High Gain chuggin I'd say Neural amps are also miles ahead from ToneX,
but there's little point in this discussion imo..

You can add THU Rig Player (with cab disabled + any cab sim/IR)

Yes there is a point : ppl pretending ToneX being the ultimate profiler for ANYTHING.
No it is not : it is a CLEAN to DRIVE machine with VERY accurate frequencies/gain.
    But crappy DYNAMIC (one again).
It is just HALF the equation. Far from "ultimate profiler" solution.

It is a very important point.
If someone want to invest time and money for fast rock to metal, toneX is time and money lost.
    This need to be said.

Find me ANY aggressive metal chug on ToneX
I just need a single one.

I tested it extensively (like any software i try).
Trying to shred on ToneX is like hammering a sponge.

I really absolutely don't understand how you can not get an aggressive metal chug with ToneX. There must be some error with the settings, because I I tested it against pretty much all the other amp software sims and metal is the only thing I play. It sounds infinitely more real than anything else. Try layering metal guitars with ToneX (I recommend you use the amp AF3 Mesa Dual rectifier which is available here in the downloads, but in my opinion most of the high gain profiles are great; sometimes changing the speaker helps)) in comparison to Neural DSP for instance. In the latter case you will have tons of unwanted, "unnatural" frequencies which you have to filter out while on Tonex you immediatey sound great and real.

    Completely different animals,
Fractal = Modeller; Tonex = Profiler

Hey, I downloaded your thing but when I got it, it was some application? I haven't run across that type of thing for Tonex yet. Do I just run the app and it does everything for me? I finally figured out how to rearrange the columns in brknwzrd's files and I think they work, I'm about to check when I get a minute. If they dont work, how do I use yours? Just run the app? and will I keep all my presets and everything?

I agree with you here. I feel like Tonex does capture something that none of the other sims available do. Unfortunately, all the other sims seem to do something or other better than Tonex - nothing is really a perfect replication of recording an amp...yet! Until then though, Tonex (which I find myself using more and more) or Kuassa (still my favorite for bass along with the free lostin70s bass amp) or Overloud is more than enough to get perfectly acceptable tones that enable me to write songs - the thing I am way more concerned with than getting the perfect amp-like direct guitar tone.

"In short, modeling an amplifier refers to the processes of replicating, or “modeling” the characteristics of an amplifier circuit. The goal is to create a digital replica of how any given amp model will theoretically behave given its circuit design characteristics. A Profiler, on the other hand, refers to the replicating, or “profiling” of one specific amplifier that you have in your possession and recreates a digital model of its sound characteristics at the specific point in time that you profile it, based on the amps actual response characteristics."

Hello guys, first time posting here and thanks for the AWESOME contributions. TONEX is fantastic especially when used within the updated Amplitube 5, however I feel like the GUI is too clunky and counter intuitive compared to the TH-U, w/c still is my primary software of choice. It is somehow frustrating that I have to dig deep and take the longer route in order to access something quick. Question here, are some of the amps outside of the "Official" IK Multimedia captures just a modifications of the orig. versions, or are they completely different? for example, Been seeing a lot of Dual Recto versions and some other amps as well

Would you like to backup your statement by sharing your best metal TONEX amp along with your settings?

Well, I mentioned the AF3 Mesa Dual rectifier 3ch in my post or the RiF-6505 Sharyn. For me, the settings and the best amp actually depend a lot on which of my guitars I am using with ToneX. I personally find most of the high gain amps to be pretty good, especially the user-made ones.
