Whilst I obviously super appreciate the releases, it feels like I'm downloading updated versions every few days sometimes

 

Font kerning has improved on baltic character sets, make sure you get the latest 11GB update

 

Free marketing I suppose. One might even say they only changed the date in the code

 

No need to download every new version tbh.
I know it's tempting to be on the "bleeding edge" of technology, but at some point, you have everything you need from one bundle and only should consider updating when a major change happens to a plugin you actually use.
Even then it's not completely necessary if you were running fine up until then.

Just wait for R to R versions. You know that it's time to upgrade when they make a calculated decision to release an updated version. They usually skip unnecessary updates unless the update is a significant update or fixes some bugs, etc.

Other than that, let the releases flow! Gives some people w/ OCD something to do. And, it puts more copies out there in case we need to ration electricity, internet bandwidth and server space. The way things are going in the world, we may wind up trading DVD-Rs of warez with each other like baseball cards one day. (blah blah)

You don't even need to download them *at all* usually:

You can grab the offline installer files from waves themselves.
Waves Central either doesn't change, or isn't cracked and you can just use a firewalled legit copy.

The VR 'patcher' only changes once a year or so, and will almost certainly work from the last release - this is the only part you need to download, and is almost always in the very last .rar part anyway.

 

One of the reasons is that Waves has been releasing new plug ins every few days

 

Updates used to be every few years, then every year and now every few months. Through the process of extrapolation, by 2024 we should see waves updates every 14.6 seconds.
