Patcher is done, already sent it to those who asked me privately.

After patching, you don't have to edit the hosts file or other stuff - the product simply isn't able to call home anymore.

The problem is, they call home through a non SSL encrypted connection (http) + an encrypted connection (https)
but R2R's hosts patch only takes care off the http url. When you open their site in your browser, it always establishes
a connection with SSL encryption (https) so you're still able to connect to Overloud's site.

If R2R fixes their hosts patcher script, then it should be ok.

Is this edit going to be released to public or should only those with the issue pm and ask for it?

ah I see, I always open the Overloud website to check the TH-U riglib stuff but I'm using VPN on separate browser, I dedicated that browser for all the blocked site on host file like DDMF, Line6 etc.

I guess that explained why some people got their plugins going demo and I didn't. Thanks for patcher, pls post it on sister's site as well.

Check if your .ol2 file is set to read-only, if so, first unset the read-only attribute

Thats a good tipp! If it's set to read only, the plugin immediately goes into trial mode, no matter what you try. With the patch applied, you don't have to set the attribute to read only.

    Where is it located, @martjay?

I have found some here at roaming folder. No read-only is set for them.
What I found weird is I cannot see the first kg window showed by @r4e. Just the final success message. Is that normal?

    Hi everyone!

I just came cross this post, as I recently wanted to install/update an Overloud plugin released from R2R in sister site, and faced this issue :
    - The Plugin goes in demo mode, if you are not online/or your network card is disabled. As soon as you re-enable the same network card you used to register the plugin with, all is fine again.

In my opinion, it has nothing to do with Overloud plugins calling home (which they may do it of course).

It's simply because, when you activate the plugin with the R2R provided KeyGen, your Network Card must be enabled (or you already know your Network Card MAC Address, so you can enter it in the KG).
So once you try to load the plugin with the Network Card disabled, or when using a VPN (I guess some VPNs change your Network Card MAC Address or use a Virtual one) or any other Network Card MAC Address different than the one registered with, the plugin goes back to demo mod, because that's how Overloud protection works I think (Checking your registered MAC Address).

I remember I could solve this issue in an older Plugin from Overloud (Mark Studio 2) by just re-authorizing it with Network Card disabled. It somehow worked. But I don't think it is possible now with newer plugins.
I think we need a workaround for this.
Whether it is possible at all, I leave it to the experts, because I am clear none :)

    Peace

Overloud seems to be one that doesn't work using R2R. I just gave up and bought the program and relieved myself of the R2R struggles after weeks and weeks.

Do the R2R Rig Libs work with your legit version? I'm thinking of doing the same!

Maybe you could try creating a virtual network adapter and register the plug-ins with that? I'm not sure exactly how to do this, but I know that some software devs and network technicians use them for various reasons.

Back when I was a C++ developer, we used the MAC address on a network interface for encrypting authorisation tokens, similar to how a lot of plugin authorisation works. Disabling a network device would then force the authorisation to go against the loopback adapter (localhost). The device used for authorisation would then be stored int he registry in case the order changed.

    Authorisation will always fail if
    • The interface used for successful registration is removed / disabled
    • The MAC address changes
For the second point above, it is simple and common for MAC addresses to change (I do this for tracking reasons).

The plugins have gone online and rewritten the cracked .ol2 files.
Someone here said the Overloud plugins need to be online to work but the opposite is true.
Actually if the cracks are online they will default back to the original .ol2 files within seconds.
I'm on mac and I use Little Snitch to handle my connections.
If you're on pc just use a firewall that you can control.
    Do this:
Allow them to go online so you can see what the connections are in the firewall and block them.
(There's a different connection for every plugin)
Shut them all down and then..
Create the .ol2 files and replace the originals in the correct folders according to the R2R instructions.
(save copies of the cracked files in case it happens again-it will save you some time)
It will work only if the connections are blocked.
-Maybe the patcher thingy hasn't worked so tr just doing it manually.

If you are referring to GreenMus comment above, then no, he didn't say that the plug-ins needed to be online, only that the network card has to be active. If you have disabled the network card (e.g if you have a completely offline machine) the plug-ins won't work as they use the MAC adress of the network card for registration. The crack should have automatically added, or told you to add, the Overloud website to your host file so that the plug-ins can't call home. If they somehow manage to call home you have probably done something incorrectly.

quick reminder howto be offline without disabling your network interfaces:

Windows: NetLimiter (make sure it's set to Alert Mode, and set block rules for all your DAWs)
MacOS: LittleSnitch or LULU (make sure it's set to Alert Mode, and set block rules for all your DAWs)

All developers that use MAC address for plugin registration are bad developers and I avoid them. Waves amongst others. But there are just a few of these, thankfully. MAC address can change not just when you use VPN but in Linux it's a standard you can set in the Network Manager, many people also just like to be offline and there is no MAC plugin can check while offline.

If you require users to be online and never use VPN it's your fault bad developer. Stop that shit. I would never buy such plugins. Thanks to cracking groups we can test for all these things thoroughly!

@SineWave that isn't exactly true with Overloud specifically, every computer should have a network interface, it doesn't have to be "online", only not disabled,
for ex. you can totally use VPN over wired thunderbolt ethernet dongle on Mac, and still have fully functional Overloud plugins registered to your WiFi adapter, even when it's not in use (not connected to any WiFi network), those plugins don't care "which" network interface mac address is used
