GForce Software releases Oddity3 with Intro Offer - 1st November 2022

    Oddity3 – Brash, Bold & Beautiful.

Oddity3 is a fresh and hugely enhanced rebuild of our much loved, multi-award winning Oddity software synthesizer. The original Oddity, along with its successor Oddity2, gained heavy praise by fans and critics alike for incredible accuracy and, in the case of Oddity2, a huge range of additions taking the legendary ARP Odyssey into previously unrealized audio realms. Oddity3 retains the fundamental architecture at the heart of previous versions but builds on this in ways that extend its sonic and musical capabilities.

Oddity3 features an improved audio engine, a powerful new Preset Browser, over 250 new presets (plus all the originals), new Distortion and Reverb effects, a Vintage control to add authentic analogue imperfections, four programmable Macros, new and improved performance controls along with three new, fully scalable UI designs. This classic desert island synth just got even better.

A Classic Synth For The 21st Century.

With the sound and character of the original hardware at its core, Oddity3 gives a classic synth a new lease of life. Authentic models of all three original filters, two syncable oscillators, an accurate recreation of the legendary ring modulator, AR and ADSR envelopes, and much more, we've spent countless hours ensuring that Oddity3 still provides a faithful and accurate recreation of one of the most highly revered synths ever.

Over the years we've enhanced these original features extensively, adding monophonic and polyphonic playability, a tunable sub oscillator, our unique X-Modifier technology, onboard effects and voice panning. Now, Oddity3 adds a raft of new features and improvements - a powerful new Preset Browser, expanded performance controls with programmable Macros, Velocity and Polyphonic Aftertouch, a Vintage knob for adding analog-style imperfections, new Distortion and Reverb effects, and more. All of this gives Oddity3 an authentic experience that feels at home in a modern setup.

    X-Modifiers - A Sound Design Playground.

Using our unique X-Modifier technology, users can reach new sonic heights with Oddity3. With a unique LFO and Envelope for almost every parameter on the synth, Oddity3 allows you to create hugely complex sounds. And, while the tone and character of the synth remains authentic to the original, the X-Modifiers allow you to take this classic sound to unexplored realms of possibility. This is the odyssey sound on steroids.

    From Pretty To Gritty.

When listening to some of the beautiful, soft pads in Oddity3, it would be easy to think that this is a synth with a gentle nature - but make no mistake. Oddity3 is a synth that's just as happy screaming as it is singing. With raw oscillators, gritty filters, screeching hardsync and a gnarly ring mod circuit, the original hardware was made to shred. GForce Oddity3 retains this dirty, edgy character and takes it one step further - enhancing it with new ways to add dirt and grime to your sounds. The new distortion circuit allows you to mutilate and mangle your sounds even further, plus we've also added a Vintage control so you can dial in authentic analog inaccuracies to suit your taste. Sometimes, there really is beauty in imperfection.

Inspiration At The Speed Of Sound.

Oddity3 features our brand new preset browser, which gives you the power to organise your sounds the way you want. With extensive tagging, sorting and search possibilities, it's now quick and easy to find the presets you want. Talking of presets, we've got them by the bucketload. Firstly, we've included more than 250 brand new presets created by our team of GForce sound designers, as well as a number of highly-regarded synthesists. You can also access over 1750 legacy presets from Oddity and Oddity2, which have all been categorised and tagged for easy navigation. Finally, we've also included 66 presets that we faithfully recreated from original patch books. With a total of over 2000 presets at your fingertips, inspiration is just moments away.

    Oddity3 – key features:
    • Analog modelling of a bonafide classic.
    • [New] Over 2000 presets including 250+ new presets.
    • [New] Powerful Preset Browser.
    • [New] Distortion & Matrix Reverb effects, with updated Delay.

Does anyone think that there are sounds within this that would not be contained within the Arturia Arp 2600? I try to have one emulation only of classic synths and I love Arturia

This is the Odyssey. I think the 2600 is a totally different synth. Its probably similar to the Korg Arp Odyssey. This has shitloads of presets from V1, 2 and 3 and other Banks.

Check for upgrade? I did check (which is even implied in my post).. did I miss something? Their site was painfully slow when I was looking, so it was hard to do a lot of digging. I logged in, and didn't see anything for updating, plus added it to my cart, and the new purchase price showed (£49.99). I've just checked again, and I see absolutely nothing about an upgrade price.

Or did you mean check the sister site? I've been doing this game for a long time (back to the 80s, when it was mainly for games), but I still like to support developers where I can, especially for good things that are affordably priced. BTW, that's just my personal preference.. I am not pushing that ideal on anyone :)

The site speed was fine when I checked it just now. But I was checking on a desktop, not a phone.
I looked in the FAQ section -- which was the obvious place to look. And found this:

    Is there an upgrade price?
Yes. Registered Oddity and Oddity2 owners will get a 50% discount on Oddity3 automatically applied in the basket.

If you're a registered owner, you might want to send 'em an email. The developer is always on the Sonic Talk podcast and always seems like a reasonable guy. I'm sure he'd sort it out for you.

There is an upgrade price for all the owners of the version 1 or the version 2 (yes, even for the owners of the version 1).

You just have to be already logged with your account when you put Oddity3 in the basket. The discount is applied automatically.

The upgrade price is £25 (+ VAT if you're in a country using VAT).

I just upgraded. For me in France the price including the VAT was £30 (€36).

The website is saturated today, the access is very long and sometimes with an error 502 (bad gateway) showing that there are many people visiting and the requests don't always pass very well. After trying several times during the afternoon (it's the beginning of the night now in Paris) I have got the Paypal transaction achieved. But I'll download my files tomorrow or within the next days.

No need to send any email, BuntyMcCunty. Be connected to your account is enough to have the discount applied automatically.

I suggested that because Naitguy said that he'd tried putting it in his shopping cart and the full price came up, so I assumed that there was a problem. Possibly the email address he'd registered the software under wasn't the same as the one he was registered at the site with?

If that were the case, a quick email should sort it out.

Thanks guys. I'm trying again now. I actually WAS logged in before adding to the cart when I tried before, but I might have just missed that there was a discount being applied in the cart somewhere. When I tried, I did see the "full" discount price (£49.99) in the cart, but maybe it shows a discount below that, and I didn't see it.

I'm also using a PC to surf to the site, but mannnn it is so slow for me right now, which is weird. I have great internet, but just this site is a bit slow for me for some reason.. and off and on. Might be something with my ISP and the route to the site. Maybe that slowness is causing me cart issues too (perhaps it's struggling to validate my license or something weird).

Anyways, thank you for all your responses. It seems either I did something wrong, or the site isn't recognizing my license properly to give the upgrade price (and yes, I'm logged into the correct account). Either way, I should be able to sort it out from here.

Edit: OK yes, I am dumb. It shows up top the full price, but if you scroll down, it has a line: "ODDITY 3 UPGRADE -£24.99", bringing the price to £25. Thanks again, guys. Believe me, I did try, but apparently I'm blind (and also impatient with the ~2-3min load time per page of their site for me right now).

Speed was slow for me earlier too. I got an email almost instantly and got the demo easily, but the site was superslow. I didn't see an upgrade price either.

I think it was just the site. I couldn't log in either, it was just spinning endlessly. I gave up and moved on...

The current slowness of the site is not really due to the site itself, but to the gateway that leads to the site. Hence the 502 error. It shows that requests to open a page on the site are sometimes abandoned by the gateway. The causes can be various, but here it's simply that the announcement of this Oddity3 release expected since 2014 and with a discount of 50% (and even 75% for the owners of a previous version) caused an overload of the site's visit requests. That's all. This will probably be the case for another three or four days but everything will gradually return to normal. It's a bit like when you want to go to a supermarket with your car and the parking lot is full. We are not going to ask the owner of the store to enlarge his parking lot when the sales only last a few days or a few weeks. So the entrance is long, sometimes the barrier is closed (the reason of the error 502) and we have no other choice than to wait and possibly come back later.

Weirdly, I've just had another look to make sure I wasn't imagining it and it's still perfectly fast and responsive for me. Presumably, I'm using a different gateway? (I'm in the UK -- as are GForce)

It might be because I'm not actually logged in so perhaps the gateway I'm using is just serving up a cache and if I was logged in it'd be slow for me as well?

The initial page seems to was actually quick for me to load (probably cached, as Bunty suggested), but logging in is slow, as are some of the other pages. Anyways, only site that was slow for me. Since other people see the slowness and most don't, I assume it's some hop along the route to the site that is slow that only some of us are routed through.
