I would also like recommendations for free stuff, but in the analog realm. I already have monitors, so that's a start.

What malfeasance has Chris perpetrated on on the masses? Enquiring minds want to know.

Dumpster diving can uncover some analogue gear. I found a Behringer Autocom once in a neighboring trash can and a friend a Neuman U87 in a dumpster in NYC. It can be a new hobby or just something to kill time.

I overheard AdmiralBumbleBee chatting, basically some gobbledygook I couldn't understand since I'm not a plugin developer but he was disappointed that one of the Airwindows plugins did something completely obsolete and nonsensical and was programmed because the developer believed in some kind of... myth?

Then all is well in the world, the world is built upon myths.
It was outside of a building site that he was working on as a finish carpenter. He sold it because he was not into music production. It was probably stolen from a studio, put in the paper bag, thrown out with the trash and left in the dumpster to be grabbed later. My friend Nick LaForte used to manage the biggest art supply store in NYC, an outfit that was called Pearl Paint on Canal Street (next to the great Canal Jeans back in the day). He had to fire a young and not yet famous Jean-Michel Basquiat for doing exactly that, putting art supplies...brushes, paints and rolled up canvases in with the trash only to come back at night and retrieve them from the dumpster.

Too, Keith Haring when young and unknown outside a very small circle, had a show at a Tribeca (Triangle Below Canal St) restauant, and when it closed the owner tossed the paintings on the curb. The person that retrieved them is probably rich from that.

I only said about analog obsession because the guy was asking for free plugins . Let’s no get into a debate about if the plugs are good or not . The main point is they’re free for the user to learn from and develop their skills better and decide to try another version that’s paid for . Ie the dangerous bax eq yes the analog obsession version doesn’t come close to the uad or pa version but it’s free and the user can learn the basis of what they do . That was the point I was making .

Comparing Airwindows to AO is totally unfair. The first is one really smart dude that makes small "components" (as i want to call) that are totally useful tools. AO has good stuff, but their konsol is an aliasing machine and eqs are strange, lots of bugs and cpu loads. While you can add HUNDREDS of Airwindows plugins and have a really cool sound with it.
The issue with Airwindows is the lack of manual and the way Chris explain things. Really bad . But once you dig their shit, and understand the workflow of the plugs, the sound is really good (and he really cares about aliasing and digital artifacts, and humble enough to fix the bugs)

Reaper plugins all the way up! Especially the comp, the eq and the gate. You can't go wrong. I never used reaper, but i got myself using these a lot more than paid ones because they are easier on cpu than my daw's stock EQ. Bizarre.

My reply wasn't meant to be rude, I only wanted to point out that AO has already been mentioned, so mentioning it a second time...
And secondly we are talking about good plugins, see title. :winker:

Which of his plugins are worth checking out? I've tried about 50 of his plugins and I've kept Tube2 and ClipOnly2. Galactic2 is cool too, but too annoying to dial in for me. I think I've tried all his distortions, reverbs and compressors.

The funny thing is, it was something regarding that which upset bumblebee.
A gain plugin that has less aliasing as using the volume utility of your DAW? Some crazy shit like that :D
