I haven't used or owned a wha wha pedal in a long, long time but would now like to incorporate one as a tool in my electric playing. I have an Electro Harmonics auto wha but would like to use more my own voice and feel to emote when I'm playing as I keep thinking like Jerry Garcia and not myself when plinking away. The wha wha plugins in AmpliTube and Helix aren't doing it for me.

I've got a Moog expression pedal that is nice and smooth and which plays nicely, but maybe I should just buy a hardware version for a self birthday present if the software versions are not yet ready for the big time.

I don't know if it was only about wahs but there was a recent thread with good recommendations.

I recommended the Kuassa Effektor WF3607. I'm no guitarist, but there's a nice demo using real guitar and expression pedal. The reverb and delay are almost too good, hard not to drool over the sound.

I often just use FilterFreak as a wah, but I have to automate it after playing the guitar.

Someone stole my beloved and prized Mutron Volume Wah from a studio that I was doing a soundtrack in a bunch of years ago and I never replaced it because they have gone for way big money (stupid big money) for a long while. Nothing I've used since then lives up to my memory of perfection.

Hey @Xupito ... I don't use Reason, and so do you know if it is bundled in one of the amp packages or vst by itself? It seems just what I'm looking for!

It's a regular VST but also has Reason version. I also noticed they seem to put both GUIs in the demo.
The first VST version is v1.0.0 by R2R you know where.
The last one is included in the last Effektor Pack by VR. It's the v1.1.0.

Sorry I was late again to the party and congrats on your new purchase. Just a thought but as another option have you tried the Eventide H3000 Factory? There is a pretty decent Wah Wah there..

Go to section 21 (Alphabetically) and choose preset number 360 (Wah Wah) it's not bad at all.

Same. But I feel like it's not hard to come up with a good wah sound, even Abletons autofilter would do a good job.

I have since 40 years or so a Cry Baby Wah... go figure. It never ever came to me that I would use a plugin. If I had to, I think I would try to measure the frequency response of my wah and it's behavior and would mimic it with Reaper's parameter modulation and Pro Q3.

If it's for a guitar sound, by definition a wah pedal, the quantity/position, has to be modulated. Because that's how guitarists use them.
You can get nice sounds using an auto-mode or using the volume/speed to modulate it. But it's not the real deal.

The "automate" you were asking about in reality is manually adjusting the quantity/position as you can do with several MIDI CCs. A bit of a clash in technical nomenclature if I got you right.

 

On Helix start with the mix parameter on 50% instead of the default 100% then tweak until you satisfied.
Also play with the other parameters.
The real Wah pedals i have (Vox 486 & Dunlop Cry Baby GCB95) doesnt sound better than the Helix versions although Helix doesnt have a GCB95 only an old Cry baby with fasel model 310

It would make it sound like an auto-wah, or an envelope filter like the MuTron. Both have been used by guitarists for a long time.

 

Nothing in the realm of software can beat the fun of sync up the foot pedal with the movement of the hands. Mine was a Morley Power Wah Boost for several years. Sylenth Will Fall brought a good auto wah to the thread but...
