...who is Mocha? I saw a release from him/her...
Have no experience with warez, I know R2R and V.R. which I guess its trustful, but is it save to install a Mocha release?

In terms of the files not being tampered with merging malware, etc; you are correct. But there are more innocuous ways to screw up a computer's installed software. Accidents and so on can happen. I think the OP is correct in being cautious about installing software from people or Teams that you do not know of, by at least reputation. I'd recommend sandboxing everything, if speaking with a Windows user. Virus/Malware scanners cannot even be relied upon, because Heuristics Evasion is not an impossible feat for a malware author.

"Moka" is also the name of a delicious coffee originated from Yemen... Also used in French baking (an experience to try absolutely if ever one day you pass by France AND you like coffee flavor) but also of course in American cupcakes...
Whoever MOCHA is, I'm really grateful for her/his quality, 100% WORKING releases, thank you mate, you just rock!

Regarding "sandboxing" and all that....
It is useful for unknown or questionable software, but I would not bother with that process for sister site stuff.
I used to use that method before I knew of sister site, getting all my stuff from usenet binary newsgroups, but with sister site and 'friendly sites' (link at the bottom left of sister site) my needs are well covered.
Of course if using the Russian tracker site it might be worth it based on reputation of uploader, but i have yet to need anything from there that was uploaded by somone with less than a great reputation score.

Just invest in backing your system up..
Invest in the hardware (extra hard drive), invest the time to set it up and learn it (small investment for most programs), and perhaps investing in a program. (Or get it via s.a.n.e.t - "friendly site")
Although i now use cracked EASEUS TODO home backup, I paid for it in the past.
I have used many and return to TODO for it's ease and dependability)

NOTHING is better than being able to put your computer back EXACTLY as it was if something goes wrong.
I have never had any problem with warez from sister site that caused a need to restore my system, but used to do it frequently while learning how to set up a multimedia editing & gaming system.
I tended to restore my system instead of just uninstalling unwanted software, with the idea of keeping the system clean.
Over time, learning how and where everything gets placed and relevant registry locations, I rarely restore any more.

I understand that you only want to install warez from trusted sources. And caution is good.
Never trust blindly any source, even if at sister site things are much safer than at other places, you should always look at some parameters:
- Is the release signed by a renowned team? Or at least signed by a team. Unsigned releases are much easier to manipulate.
- Who bring the release. Imagine an R2R release brought by a completely unknown poster... while we know that R2R only give access to a few chosen posters....

So, about MOCHA, as he is new, we still have to be careful, but, as you may have noticed, I have posted some of his material, he sent me for beta testing, which is not what a malicious releaser would do.
None of his material gave me any positive on scan.
Conclusion, it seems that we can trust him, yet future will tell.

 

I trust the releases on our sister site. Although I had to reinstall Arturia Pigments from VR recently (I got a time bomb) and during the installation I was taken to VR website. It looks they smuggled a malicious code or at least unwanted advertisement.

I'm not saying anything bad about the releaser. Or the supplier they may even get installers from. Noone at all. My comment was in reply to a flippant comment and I understand that. But I think it is a wise question from the OP. Here is an example, Ableton. There are versions released so quickly the Legit users wonder how they did not get a working link via email yet. Can anyone say these were tested, at all; prior to installation onto a production machine? That would be no fault of the releaser for it to cause some user problems.
