As Leo Gibson said in his demo of ToneX on youtube that they need to provide a way for the Pros to make money for their Profiles on this platform otherwise they'll be no incentive for the ones in the know to create them!

Inside Amplitube, Tonex just counts as an amp, you can run dual, triple lines, as many instances. Yeah, I took a while to figure that out too, lol. But that's the real gem. Only thing that still bothers me is that when you get a Amp+Cab, is that the cab is this black box you can't see what's going on.

Also, running this way will solve the 'pedal problem'. You don't need the 'Complex Rig' to get a fixed pedal you can't change. Run the Amp or Amp+Cab, and you can add the Amplitube pedals.

This Tonex thing is way more complicated that it should be, lol.

 

All hood gere man, no offense. But have you actually tried ML Sound Lab and Neural DSP stuff? Tonex doesn't come close (as amp sim). And I'm a huge fan of IK Multimedia. I got a lot of their stuff. But again, this is just for profiling. As an amp sim, there are much better stuff out there. With Amplitube can you at least micro-manage every detail to try to get what you want instead of the Black Box feeling of Tonex. And even then, ML and Neural stuff it's just "screw it, sounds better, easier to use." feeling.

Again, of course, if it's for profiling a rig I get it. But as an solely amp sim, it's just another Amp section add-on for Amplitube 5.

But "multi settings capture" is on the way.

It is very complicated, because FOR NOW you need to make a new capture each time you change one parameter.
And it is multiplicated by other parameters.

Example :
JCM800
6 knobs, 10 positions on each = 10 exp 6 = 1 000 000 combinations

Of course, you don't need all combinations and all settings ... but you the see the problem.
If you reduce to 4 settings, you still get 10 000 captures.

And it is a SIMPLE amp.
As you can see, it is impossible without "intelligent" capture.
And it is not for tomorrow ...

That's why good algos sims are still useful, to get flexibility without making hundreds captures.

"Black box" is for "that sound" and only it.
Kemper "and others" was NEVER meant to "search your sound", but to get "that sound".

Totally different tools.

 

Ah, I didn't think of that. However, I'm sure some of the very best sims available will come from normal people just looking to share their favourite sounds. I think in order to sell them, you'd have to be a 'name' and just because you have a following, doesn't mean you have any extra added skills when it comes to mic'ing up a guitar amp.

 

Yes, tried ML, and Neural was my goto gitsim. Than go back to THU (always + CABs). I play guitar for over 35 years, I know how it feels to play real rigs. I think (and so did many other people) that this ToneX thing feels right when you play it.+ When I replace the current ampsims with ToneX, I can hear things that wasn´t hearable before, lol. At least for me, it´s a game changer.

(I mix ToneX with Amplitude Cabs to change the mics and loudspeakers)

 

I found ToneX amp only + VIR sounding very good.
Even if i use Nebula OwnHammer mostly.

Possibility of disabling captured cab is welcome.
Like THU Rig Player.

 

This plugin is simply amazing
I've been playing with it for days, and it has revived songs I had and played them again, it sounds really, really good.
A few more details.
I've said before that it would be nice if the preset volumes matched. Some sound too loud and others too quiet.
The distortion is very good and rare. When you turn it down or up, it doesn't give the same distortion effect as other vst. It's kind of subtle, so if you want something cleaner or more aggressive, you have to choose another preset (I don't know if this is good or bad, but it works).
The equalizers are also very subtle as well as the "presence" knob, so if you want something cleaner or more aggressive, you have to choose another preset. It is very different from the other emulators. If you turn up the mids or treble it doesn't sound "squeaky".

There is a problem that crashes in S1, (AppData). But I think it must be because of the "unofficial" version (so to speak). Maybe this doesn't happen in the paid version.

 

That's what I'm experiencing right now. I hear those details that I didn't hear before. I'm playing all day long! It's like it's a pleasure to play like that.

on a mini with high sierra.... anyone have an issue with tonex not showing up in A5.5? followed directions. download tonex free version, got authorized, launched it first, quit, launch A5, not showing up.

 

I just can say for W10 : search "Type" on the right, then ToneX is in "other" at the bottom of the list.

 

ToneX can export presets containing tone capture.
BUT can't export a tone capture alone from ToneNet.

So for now to use ToneNet with sister site ToneX, you need to :

download a ToneNet capture on another computer/virtual machine with free ToneX CS account AND NO sister site installs
Save capture inside a PRESET
Export the preset
Import back the preset on sister site ToneX on ANOTHER computer

You will get the capture inside the preset

You are not going to do that for all tone captures of course.
But if you do it only for the best you like ... it will works.

Virtual machine with drag'n drop / shared folder will be fast enough.

Seems Amplitube 5 / ToneNet can do the same.
