I have a pretty large, 8tb kontakt library, some with custom nicnt's across 3 partitions.

I use Studio One 5, and to get Kontakt running, sometimes I have to start up the Kontakt EXE and then load the project containing kontakt in S1.

Any tine I add kontakt, it's a gamble, with S1 just closing.

Can anyone help me diagnose this?

 

try to load without the 8 To library first.
also isolate the not conventional libraries.
use steps in the add.

i also made another patcher (rev4), with a corrective about license management (it use none or any, legit player or keygenerated)
you can check if it is better this way.

I once had this problem because of the output section of the Kontakt. Sometimes I made them mono and sometimes stereo. There was one time I made 10 mono out (In kontakt) and accidentally saved the nicnt. So it will load default with 10 mono out. Kontakt thought set to 10 stereo out default. So whenever I tried to open the project, it will crashed the DAW and I figured it was Kontakt.

Long story short, sometimes changing the nicnt file (so it reset the output) for the library to its factory stock and set Kontakt to default output will solve it. Not sure how it will help, but I never had any problem with Kontakt other than that one. If the Kontakt crashed as soon as you load a library it could be this. If it crashed on load without you loading any library, it probably something else.

 

Not the answer to your question but Audiogridder or Vienna Ensemble Pro can come handy to protect your opened project in your DAW.

 

No, it crashes when I load an empty kontakt.
Perhaps bad custom nicnt s? I have a lot of them and I don't know how to troubleshoot them all...

 

a cache effect occur if you switch of version. previous fix or R2R use or player. the database rebuild is not the same at every validation check.

every time you change of kontakt, it will crash 2 or 3 time before load normally.
idem at DAW opening or first load. it need up to 3 attempt before launch in every format VST3, AAX, EXE.
you should finally use only one version to prevent this effect.

when you know it is no more a problem. just a few boring at the opening.

i made a rev 5 with 3 useless key out for the patcher. it is more light.

i also revised the R2R custom unlock
now it can play without license more, or from the legit player one, and still the keygened one... or your little sister one from another machine.
the libray edit is also unlocked with player license more
and you can use native Access over without the demo revert joke from license loading.

crash result usage should be integrated in the manual. re lauch until it load normally. even 3 or 4 time.
to tell him you are the boss.

 

Are you talking about the patcher included your kontakt rev3? I'm a bit lost there

 

no but somewhere in space that you have a menu button. i also added few things for the R2R custom one.

I have the exact problem only with Cakewalk. It started about a week or so ago. I insert Kontakt into a project, it is hit or miss whether Cakewalk will crash or not. Bob, I have both of your versions K6 and K7. Does Kontakt have VST2 version I can try? You only included the VST3. Dont know if that will help. I tried the NI suggestions of deleting the Registry entries as well as the Database. I insert the plugin without any libraries loaded just as Avatar explained. Prior to this, I never experienced any crashing with Kontakt and Sonar / Cakewalk

 

Try load in stand alone first and let it run a little bit... us library tools out there to reregister the libraries.

What's the best way to remove / clean up all kontakt library entries?
I trimmed the fat from 8tb to 4tb, moved them to faster drive, and separated the custom nicnt's, wich I plan to add one by one.

These are three registry sections you wanna have bookmarked. Along with the Native Access folder.

 

usually I open my daw without loading any project
Then go in my ASIO settings
Boost the Sampling rate to 96k and buffer size to 4096 or something and then load the project...

after I clock all back in my daw pref to 48k 128buffer size " )
