What if you had mix tools within each sound? Say hello to Spectral Suite, a bundle of devices for Bitwig Studio that offers a new level for mixing and sound design. It’s time to unlock your audio.

This is an insanely useful stock plug-in suite! Being able to do spectral compression with any compressor plug-in you'd like (if I understand it correctly?), create your own spectral delay chains and also use it to transient/tonal splitting like SplitEQ and entropyEQ.

I wish Reaper had built-in tools for this. I've been using ReaComa to do similar stuff, but it's not as well integrated or user friendly as spectral suite unfortunately.

DAW-exclusive paid plugins? And here I was of a good opinion about Bitwig...

It is a bit rough. I love Bitwig, but no matter how you cut it, it's a bit shitty. Studio One is big on add-ons too. Ableton does it, but it's full suite includes all the add-ons. This will probably eventually be stock bundled.

Bitwig is trying to build a shop just as Ableton has.

Ablton Suite Live also does not include all things, maybe bitwig should make a better plan on marketing the whole idea.

Now people think: Let me pay the sub plan and i get everything

@Stevie Dude thanks for the youtube video, didnt see that bitwig folks does not like that.

    2 German companies from Berlin:
Ableton AG, Schönhauser Allee 6-7, 10119 Berlin, Germany
Bitwig GmbH, Schwedter Str. 13, D-10119 Berlin, Germany

The interface is familiar, which is probably due to the fact that some Bitwig developers come from the Ableton forge.
So the workflow and views are also very similar.

So far the Bitwig team has been pretty cool when it comes to listening to the users, this move seems so antithetical to their modus operandi. They could go "ok folks, we heard your complaints and decided to make this suite freely available with the usual updates" but it would still leave a bitter aftertaste in our mouths.

Guess I won't be renewing my subsc... aw hell, who am I kidding, I never paid for it anyway lol

Reaper seems like the safest haven to protect artists against malicious moves of any other DAW company indeed. Though it must be said that a paid plugin pack on itself does not make Bitwig a sudden handicap. It's merely a potential sign of worse times to come. Active subscription only would have been a lot worse for example (as today you don't need an active sub to be able to use Bitwig).

All those marketing/subs bs aside, let's just admit that the FXs are super cool for a DAW native fx unit. Spectral plugin are know for needing 1million samples (latency) to work, embedding them to the DAW core processing should lower the count I think.

yeah i thought so too also the GUI looks very visual.

not sure how the improvement were done there. might have to read more about spectral DSP techniques.

It doesn't work great, it will have all your tracks grouped and labeled the same but everything else is chaos. It works great for templates though.

Aside from that, I'm obsessed with Bitwig coming over from Ableton. To me it's Ableton on steroids. It's a real shame if they adopt this business model, because the selling point for me was the option to rent to own the premium version with all upgrades during the subscription.

The bitwig staff has lost their fucking minds. Instead of working on catching up with core functionality of established DAWs, they work on squeezing even more money out of their customers? Talk about being tone deaf.
