Hi! I was just wondering about one thing... today almost every single song that goes to the market had some sort of pitch correction... how did we got here? what was the first pitch correction software/hardware? in which year? how did it evolved trough time?
Any information on this will be appreciated.

Antares, afaik. It was like crazy voodoo magic. We used to joke about having something to make people sing on key and then damn, it happened. I had the rackmount model ATR-1 back around 2000 because we were still recording to ADAT then but the software existed prior to that. Google will tell you when it 1st came out..

Hmm... the Eventide could *change* pitch but I don't think it could correct pitch as such. I mean, I suppose you could have but only laboriously and not in real time, let alone automatically to a reference the way Autotune could.

With pitch corrector you mess up a good voice. Younger people probably don't know any different.
For older people, these altered songs are not even audible. Don't make the mistake like the others.

Auto-Tune by Antares has been the de facto standard for correcting the pitch variations of singers for 20 years.
Auto-Tune only really became known through Cher and her song "Believe" from 1998.

The company Celemony has developed with its Melodyne a very innovative pitch corrector software.
Definitely watch or listen to it.https://www.celemony.com/en/melodyne/what-is-melodyne
