Hi folks sorry if its wrong forum topics,

I recently started a new music project for classic jrpg style video game like Lunar Silver Star Story, Wild Arms, Etc, does anyone know what good sample library with good wind, wooden and glass sound (especially kontakt) vst, good presets or sample pack and good percussion loops for that kind? I don't wanna spend alot of time just for tweaking sound, I just wanna focusing on making music. Thanks in Advance.

    Sorry my bad English.

I think what you're looking for is some old General MIDI oriented sounds. If you have the money check out Roland's Sound Canvas plugin (for some reason it's the only Roland thing that's missing from the packs at sister site)

You can also get similar sounds by using a sounfont player, which you can find for free. Aside from that, i'm affraid most options are (fairly cheap) hardware.

I don't think there's anything like this for kontakt, could be wrong.

Edit: If you're on windows you can also use DirectX synth, though that might be a little complicated to set up. It sounds a bit "older" tohugh.

    Hey Dark Matter!
    Don't worry, I gotchu:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JJBlHHDc65fhZmKUGLrDTLCm6rfUU83-kbuD8Y0zU0o

This spreadsheet lists most of the libraries used in newer and older JRPGs (you can select specific game series like Pokemon, Sonic, Zelda, FF at the bottom).
The aforementioned SC-88 is a decent starting point, for certain games like FF7 you can replicate most of the OST with that synth alone:

But it's far from covering all the classic games like the ones you mentioned.
There is a page on archive.org that has most of the classic 90's Sample CDs that those Composers used, but the download speed is quite limited. They also have the Best Service Orchestra, which was used for orchestral music in JRPGs in the 90s.

For the sake of completeness, you can use a hybrid approach by using i.e. Omnisphere, Zebra etc. together with those oldschool Sample Libraries - This is what Deniz Akbulut, the composer of CrossCode does and the results are fantastic:

Just a word of warning at the end: You are right, you can get fast results by using them, but acquiring a halfway decent collection of them (+making a template) takes it's time, so don't expect wonders from downloading one or two libraries.

Eastwest stuff is always good, i'll try them later.
Unfortunately I have 0 money to start, and only use free stuff and sister site stuff, but when this project make some money I'll buy few plugs.
Wow that's massive, really useful to me, thanks for sharing.
First off all, thank you guys for the answers, such a massive reference and knowledge, really really appreciated.
I would love to install eastwest & UVI product, but I have to sort and delete some unused my kontakt library because my HDD is almost full, maybe i'll start experiment with TSS, Roland and Spectrasonics stuff.
