    Transcript of a product enquiry:

    Xxxxx
    Hi
    How can I help?

    You
How did this item go up 15% when this item is already in stock (5 items)?

    Xxxxx
Unfortunately, we do sometimes have to amend the costs of some items due to differences in prices from our suppliers or costs of shipping the stock to us.

If I read this correctly, they want me to pay for the future costs of stock replacement?

If they order me one today, it will sell for the new price. Why would I get a deal on their existing inventory because they had the wherewithal to put it into their physical Inventory?

When a company updates it's price files, it's for the entire inventory. It doesn't matter when it showed up on the dock.

The item is in stock and can be delivered tomorrow. Yesterday they quoted me the old price. All they have done is increase the price in their database. This is the 2nd recent price increase, the last one was 20% They are passing the cost of future stock replacement onto the customer. In other words, they don't have sufficient cashflow to maintain their existing stock levels, and the business will fail when people refuse to pay the new inflated prices.

I think the audio products business is heading into trouble, just like many other consumer goods sectors. My advice is buy now if you can.

Market gets regulated by supply and demand real quickly.
Unless everyone increases the prizes they will run out of business.
At the end of the day each supplier can decide by themselves how high their prices are.
Maybe they thought that they can use the situation for their own advantage, just simply buy cheaper somewhere else

But im pretty sure that many product prices will increase due to inflation and other high costs.
Guess people nowadays have to value the things that they buy ;)

buy old style tools too. power tools maybe useless for a period of time. a used woodburning stove would be great and some shotguns and ammo.

I agree, but high inflation is beyond their (and other companies) control. I can only see one outcome here, and that is lot's of failed retailers and manufacturers.

A woodburning stove could be used as a percussion instrument to accompany acoustic guitar

In "BWL" ( business administration) we have something called "Wiederbeschaffungskosten" roughly translated as
    replacement cost

So stuff like this can happen

Yesterday I read that Trigema (Cloth manufacturing ) had costs of €1.200.000 but now €12.000.000 for Power (Gas)

15 % is in, compared with this low against 900%.

What they are doing is selling the unit for the current price. A "Quotation" is written, and it has a duration typically, while the offer is valid.
An LOI (Letter of Intent) can often lock in that pricing past the original duration.

You may feel like they don't care if they sell it to you or someone else. You're right, because they don't. Someone will buy at the current price, either way.

It's actually 20%, and then another 15% in a short time period, but the outcome is still the same.

I know what they are doing and I am not playing along with their game. I have already found a used "as new" item at a far cheaper price, so lets see how their business does when the typical average customers (me) walk away. I'm not just singling out this one company, a lot of businesses are going to crash and burn. It's going to be like the 1920's all over again. Don't forget the audio equipment boon is mostly fuelled by enthusiasts and hobbyists who probably think that eating is more important :)

It's exactly the second-hand market's turn now. That's a wise decision on your part. One should always buy before the crisis or after the crisis.

Yes, it looks like they are running a low risk business model.
