This only works on a Mac. Somebody may want to right a progamme to do this.
You will need to use the terminal. Learn How.
It is pretty simple but time consuming. You just have to lock the plist file. When you have done so a little lock will appear on the icon.

    Lock plist file in /Users/xxxxx/Library/Preferences/
    sudo chflags uchg /Users/xxxxx/Library/Preferences/com.native-instruments.Koto.plist

    Unlock plist file in /Users/xxxxx/Library/Preferences/
    sudo chflags nouchg /Users/xxxxx/Library/Preferences/com.native-instruments.Koto.plist
    xxxx is your Users name.

You set the UserListIndex number to the order you want the Library in.

Open plist file in Property Plist Editor. Change Number then save.

I read this carefully,Spencer26, but I'm still not getting it, sorry. Please bear with me. I don't understand what the Terminal has to do with any of this. Your instructions do not appear to require using the Terminal at all, that I can see. You were opening the plist files with a plist editor, not the Terminal . Also, for example , none of this will work for the East West products, as they do not conform to the Kontakt plist format. In the preference folder you refer to, all East West products simply appear under their library name , i.e.: RA, SOBrass PRO XP, STORMDRUM, etc.

I wish someone would write a Mac app for this, because recently I've had a lot of problems with my library banners randomly jumbling up.

Many thanks for posting this, but I'm sorry I cannot follow your instructions .

    OK this will be big...
You have to create a new .nicnt file for east west stuff and any others that are causing problems. You will have to make a list of all you snpid numbers so you dont have any clashing. You can find that out.
You name the ninct file with the name of the folder of the paticular library. You add that name 3 times in the nicnt file. Just replace koto in the enclosed file.

You then add your new SNPID number as well. Then you save the file and replace the other ninct file in that library.
Then you go to Kontakt and add that library.
Once you have added the library look for the plist file as per previous instructions.
Now you have to add the number where you want the library to appear as per previous. Now you have to lock that file so Kontakt cannot overwrite it.
The only way to do this is use terminal commands above. It is no good locking the file in the finder, Kontakt just overwrites it.
    Good Luck
    Spencer

Um, I think I'm going to wait to see if someone writes an app, which I'm very happy to pay for. Far too much work to do to get into this kind of thing, and none of this is really clear to me anyway. I can't understand why NI has made this so unreliable and downright counterproductive. Sorry. Thanks anyway :)

An app to fix order is not going to fix your libraries that won't load. Its not that hard. You give up far to early. How would you go working in a major studio under real pressure. "No to hard for me I will wait for the next engineer to come in".

I am not meanining to be offensive, but in this day age we need to be multitasking. I would say the time you are wasting searching for misplaced libraries is not only time you dont have but it also pisses you off and takes away from the music you are creating. I know I have been and engineer for 50 years. Its well worth taking a break and updating your libraries. I am here and will help as much as I can.

perhaps I'm just an idiot. I don't see a user index when looking at the .plist. I'm trying to keep them in order as well, and all of a sudden i add a library and it won't show up.[IMG]

Never had this problem (knock on wood). Every once in a while after upgrading or moving the entire Kontakt collection to or from a new location, I have missing libraries in the library window ... which I simply locate or add, and the problem's solved. I also immediately batch resave everything after an upgrade.

    What works for me:

    Logic 10.2
    Kontakt 6.2.0

1.-Forget about order in Kontakt 5, use kontakt 6 to order libraries
2.-Dont move a library to the final tab.
3.-Dont move a library of one step. Move three positions, then 5, then 4 then etc...but dont move from start to finish.
4.-Open a template with always a intrument Kontakt 6. Create and for me always preserve the order

Ok hope it works for yours too¡¡ Cheers¡¡

You do not need sudo to write in your user preferences folder, or if you do, you preferences are corrupt and need sorting out !

This was only good for Kontakt 5. It does not work in 6. Library order is stored differently in K6.
